Anybody ever have any luck selling temporary power poles?

I did a brief search for the topic, but nothing jumped right out at me.

Has anybody ever tried to sell used temporary power poles?

We got a handful of them that the homebuilder's project manager said just to toss into the dumpster. They're a meter socket, combined with a breaker panel with a couple of outlets, mounted on wooden posts with aluminum cable that goes to the electric company's underground distribution box. These particular ones retail on Home Depot's website for around $250, and that's just for the box itself, not all the other stuff.

I've looked on Craigslist a few times, and never found any listed for sale. Obviously (at least in these parts), they require an inspector to sign off on them when installed for use. Is this something that has no value to an electrician as a "used" item, so nobody bothers trying to sell them, or are they just scarce?

I'd hate to just scrap them if they're worth even a fraction of their retail value, but I don't want to waste my time trying to sell something that's not worth it....

Check with local electricians. They install them for various reasons but mostly for construction sites. 73, Mike

Miked has the best advice, but another avenue to pursue is farmers and ranchers. They are always wiring new buildings and sheds. In the two states I reside, a homeowner can do their own electrical work and if you are not in a community you do not have to have it inspected.

I have never sold any, but I have used them on my place and given some away to neighbors that could use them.
Give back more to this world than we take.

I think they would be a throwaway item for a larger contractor. It's all part of the electrician's bid. More cost efficient to throw in a new one than carry them from job to job.

It might be a different story for a smaller contractor though. It wouldn't hurt to list it on CL under building materials or something similar.

They would come in pretty handy at a campground somewhere. Just pull your RV into the space and hook up the electricity.

Maybe a marina as well ?
