Just broke down the 12 computers I baught yesterday.

Well just so you can see what you can get from scrap computers. this is what I got from the 12 towers I baught yesterday.

3 dvdrw drives 1 is a lightscribe Should get $20 each for them on ebay.
3 good hard drives 40gb 80gb and 160gb should be able to get $10 for the 40 and 80 and $15 or $20 for the 160
2 1gb pc2700 ram sticks should get $15 for them

1 athlon x2 6400+ Sells for $60 on ebay used Another $10 for the heatsink.
    2 1gb pc5300 another easy $15 bucks
1 MSI motherboard $30 on ebay

I think the last 3 things im going to use them to make my TV computer Allready have them put in with a sata DVDRW and 320gb HD that I got from other scrap computers. Also a PCI express video card with HDMI output. Also got this from a scrap computer. Should have a real nice computer after its said and done.

So all in all for $160 investment just in resellable stuff im looking at $230 just in the stuff I pulled from the 12 towers. Plus the $150 worth of hard drives I posted on ebay yesterday from same lot and allready sold $75 worth of them. So im looking at $380 and havnt even broken down the 12 macs yet.

Long story short learn to check your scrap parts for working parts and sell them on ebay.

almost forgot I got 4 agp graphics cards im going to try and sell for $10 each on ebay too see how that goes.

You might want to check that motherboard under a magnifier light to make sure there are no blown capacitors.

I love when things come full circle like that...Parts to sell plus parts to use and some scrap to turn in when all is said and done.

I know some working items will have to be shipping in an anti-static bag. Which items do you ship in them and do you have a good source for where you get them?

I am whiping them and formating them. testing them with manufacturer drive tools like seatools. I dont ship them in antistatic bags. I wrap them in bubblewrap and then put them in a bubble mailer. Havnt had a single return yet but now that I said it ill get one this week for sure. As far as testiing them I baught a USB adapter for them so I dont have to plug them into machine per say.

Could you please elaborate on the USB adapter and seatools to test the drives? If you would use sock puppet mode it would be appreciated, if you would be so kind. Thanks.

Here is the USB adapter I baught from ebay.

Seatools is seagates/maxtors hard drive diagnostic tools program. Its free to download and use and works on every drive I have scrapped so far. Probable not the best wayto check a drive but its quick and easy.
