So I got 30 of these today

Got a call from CL and a gentleman had 30+ DMV testing kiosks.. They have 17" elo touchscreen monitors and Dell optiplex P4, 512 ram and 40 gig HD.. They all work fine. My question is what would you guys do with them? Scrap them? The computers sell for around 60 bucks each on ebay.. I thought is to turn them into poker machines, any thoughts on that?

wow, I see my tax dollars there

I'd probably piece them out, but maybe try to ebay one to test the waters (as a complete unit). These must have cost a pretty penny new and I'd bet there's a secondary market for them...somewhere.

I like your idea about turning them into games. If you can install windows onto them they are sell-able on CL and ebay as a usable item...worth it since you only have to do one and then you can just copy the hard drive and load all the computers up at once and sell them as one computer type (a buy now thing on ebay)

    Thats what I would do.

I agree with turning them into something useful....The computers are on the lower end of things anyway (low value processors, etc) and you would have a fair amount of waste involved with the scrapping considering the fact that they are encased in wood (yeah it could be burned but that wood with veneer on it is pretty bad when burned).

They would make some killer poker machines or even video slot machines for fun...They would go great in a man cave.

Start with one and see how it goes. If you ask 500 for it and you sell it right away then you know your price was to low. If you ask 500 and no one calls you for a week thn you know its to hi. Good luck keep us posted.

the others are right those would make some pretty sweet arcade style machines

the website below has some emulators and such you could experiment with and put real arcade style games on or other game console emulators.

You done anything with these yet? I'll give you some ideas on how to flip them, back when I worked for a fortune 500 and had expensive hobbies like nose candy and what not, I used to build these all the time. The guys have some good advice, but not near enough geek in them to make these as profitable as you like. Send me a pm.

Oo there are a ton of things you can do with them that would be awesome and or be able to turn a huge profit on. But when you get down right geeky with someone you can lose them...

some geeky things you can do...

add some ports and testing tools on computers to test, cars, computers, boats and so on...they would love the stand and the touch screen part of the system

Set one up in your house to run the lighting, tvs and other things by touch screen and remote access controllers

use one with a 1tb hard drive and turn them into dvr for tv and or setup video cams around your home (can even use IR so they will work during the night and you can see as clear as day)

Use them as seed computers (real geeks will know what I mean)

Set them up in stores and or other companies that will let you and tie it into a credit card reader so they can play games and or other things on them for a cost (non-poker due to state laws)

and I can go on and on....but..not everyone will have the geek bone in there body =P

These have MAME cabinets written all over them! Add a couple of old style usb joysticks and a MAME emulator, and you'd be playing galaga all day long!
