I hate ebay to start off with. I was just wondering if there is anybody on here interested in purchasing clicky keyboards. I have 50 plus off them dating from 1985-92. I didnt keep any of them after 92. Didnt think i should of. No clue if they work or not I know they could use a good cleaning but I dont hav the time. Let me know if anybody is interested or has a contact with a buyer. Thanks also im in the Conroe Texas area that is about 45 minutes north of houston. Sorry to make the post so long. Any help is appreciated.

I found this thread while search for the "clacketyness factor." I know that keyboards before a certin date that make a clackety sound are somehow worth more but I can't seem to find out how/why... Searching got me hear lol can someone fill me in?

So that's it, it's an aftermarket thing. Good to know, I was about to start taking them apart to see if they had some kind of special board or something. Appreciate the help!

The clicky keyboards were made differently. There is a spring mechanism for each key. Current keyboards have a silicon mat with "cups" under each key that spring back after being depressed.

some vintage keyboards can go for a couple hundred bucks easy. It's all about having original equipment, for those who collect vintage computers. I personally wouldn't pay it, but if there is a market I'm all for capitalizing on it.

List it for the least you'll take....Usually I start vintage keyboards at 19.99.....

I have tried many things and the items at $.99 usually reach market value and it gives them better exposure. None of the items I list for $.99 were paid for so noway to lose money just time.

I do start an occasional auction at .01 with no reserve.....Usually something I know will sell just to get some exposure like was said above

I've always wanted a clackety keyboard; feels like you are working when you use it. I'm sure I'll find one by the curb sooner or later.

I took apart a (non-clacky) board the other day to remove the mylar film, and also popped out the keys. My MIL loves using things like old keys for her crafting. I imagine one could sell a bag of them on ebay or CL.

Nice tip there Jill. I'm not an Ebay person, but a good idea. I get keyboards in all the time, an all I save is the wire, mylar, an screws..lol. Guess I'll start busting out the keys an seeing if any of my crafting contacts have a use.

Thank you for the suggestion. Not one I recall seeing on here, but then..so many tips an tricks, it is easy to let one get by the old radar.

You're welcome, Sir. The crafty community seems into anything with letters on them: keyboard keys, typewriter keys, scrabble tiles. They can spell things out and turn them into signs, fridge magnets, even jewelry.

I think you could sell crafty supplies on Esty.com? I've never sold there, but that is certainly a great niche market for the crafter demographic.

I don't sell on eBay either. I don't like the scams and attitudes, and I don't like mailing things. I do love me some craigslist, though, both as a buyer and seller.
