    Sorting Al, and copper question.

What is the best way to sort my Al before taking it in? Of course I'm taking all non-aluminum bit off, but should I sort out heavier bits (like a Al valve cover, heat sinks, Al casings, etc) and lighter bits (Al fan blades, other thin bits?) Or will I get the same price for it all?

Also, should I go to the trouble to remove the paint from some painted copper tubing?

Aluminum - there are three basic categories: Sheet, Cast and Extrusion. Look them up on my thread here: http://www.scrapmetalforum.com/showt...-for-Beginners . Each has its own price which can be significant. As far as paint on copper tubing - I'd say "No". It should go as #2 Copper which is likely about ten cents a pound less than #1.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.
