Legos worth more per lb than mother boards.....

So I saw an ad on craigslist of someone looking to buy legos. I sent them an email because I have about 10 gallons worth and they offered me $4/lb for clean lego brand legos. I did some searching on ebay and it seems as though the person will be able to resell them for a profit, and they may sort them and resell certain pieces for much more.



It sounds like a whole other world or pricing and scraping!

That is pretty cool. Im always looking for new avenues for scrapping a reselling. I think I will look into it. There is a Legoland theme park here in CA. with tons of stuff made of legos. That place must be worth millions!

I have sold a decent amount of Legos on Ebay over the years and made good money.

I've made some decent bucks buying "loose" Lego's at garage sales and selling them by the pound on Ebay. My experience is for every dollar I spend at a garage/estate sale, I can sell for close to $10. Thank you postal service for the "big Flat Rate Box"

Are there certain types of legos that are worth more? I have some big fat legos (honestly I dont even know if they are lego brand) but, are those worth much? Do you know off hand?

Lego brand are usually marked with the word LEGO on each dot of the lego piece. Looking through ebay auctions, they seem to be going between $8 to $18 a pound. I even saw a few in excess f $30 a pound! Here's an example at about $19 a pound (3 of 10 lots have been sold):

Only problem with ebay now is their crazy 9% Final Value Fee (usually works out to about 14% when all is said and done)! I was going to list some worthwhile computer stuff but I'm not giving my money to the crooks at ebay. Running a business and making a profit is one thing... raping sellers is just ludicrous! Guess they get their lead from the oil companies.

Some people have over $100,000 in their collections.

$10 a pound for loose Legos is cheap. When you think about it, you can go to the store and buy a 10 piece set for $10...price them next time your strolling through walmart. It's insane how much they are. I have a big tote full from when I was younger, plus some from the 70s-80s when my brothers were little, and a bunch of old instruction books. I refuse to sell it all though

This whole lego get me exciting and opened another door to more possibilities in scrapping. I also notice that the lego people (the little figures) are worth like $2 each. Wow!

I look for Lego's, Mega bloks, K'nex & Bionicles.

Mega bloks also do good but keep them seperate...or the Lego's won't bring as much.

Some toys will surprise you.

I got on a kick of buying those happy meal toys about 10 or 12 years ago. I saw they were selling at flea markets for at least $1 each, but at yard sales for usually a dime, so I filled about a dozen boxes. Reckon I'll hang on to em till they're back to a dime again ; )
