    Scrapping paper

I haven't figured out yet if this is worthwhile, BUT, in my junk removal business we often get large quantities of paper, and if it is easily doable we separate it from the trash we take to the landfill and throw it into Gaylord's at the warehouse. When we get enough we put the Gaylord's on the truck and take them to Royal Oak Recycling.

We get paid 50 bucks per ton, and we DON'T pay the landfill for dumping this heavy material. Still trying to balance out the worthiness of this endeavor. Add into the equation payroll costs for my guys.

    Any thoughts?

Incidentally, two Gaylord's full gets me only about 26 bucks average.

if you have space in the warehouse id say go for it. the only thing your doing differently with scrapping it rather than dumping it is storing it

I agree, if you have room to store it. Can you haul more than 2 gaylords at a time ? Anything you can sell for cash is better than paying to dump it.

Burly, what is the secret with Royal Oak Recycling? They say they pay for plastic/paper, then you get there and they won't pay.

I don't understand, I've never had a problem. I pull onto the scale, tell the guy what I have and he directs me to the back to unload. Once there the Hilo driver comes over and brings me containers to throw my stuff into, or if unloading Gaylord's he brings me replacements. I weigh out and get paid, no problem.
