    recycling plastic in ri/ma?

i work in a grocery store and throughout the course of a month we accumulate a lot of plastic from shopping bags, pallet wrap etc. Right now we have a company come pick it up for free and they drop it off somewhere else. i am sure they are making money on it and my company wants to eliminate the middle man and make the money for themselves. Anybody know of someone who will pick it up and pay for it. we fill up a small box truck 1 to 2 times a month but the problem i see is that there is not much weight to it.

If your company is truly wanting to cut out the middle man you have to get a baler and bale your plastics like you bale your cardboard. It takes longer to get a load but the plastics could be worth a fair amount.

Everybody would like to eliminate the middle man... it would be nice to get the groceries delivered straight from the farmers, butchers, processing facilities, etc. Unfortunately the middleman is a necessary link in the chain. As a grocery store generating 1-2 small box trucks a month, that isnt nearly enough to satisfy a contract with any manufacturer.

Per the above statement, try a small baler and ask for money with the increased weight per load.
