ya its 5cents here in iowa but its a huge thing here for can hunters. I do myself when I am out scrapping but mostly at games and big events we have in town some of our bigger collage games its easy to make $1000-1500 and other events at least $200+ . I have a lot of regulars that do not want to pay our garbage collection to collect there recycling $7week so I pick it all up for free and keep the tin glass cans and such for myself and paper plastic and card board I drop off at the recycling center. its a win win for both of us and they save all sorts of goodies for me knowing I am able to make money and save them money. one of the big things is since the scrap yard does not care if the can is dirty as long as its not full of food to make the weight off a lot, they do not have to wash or peel labels off glass or tin so I get along more people this way to save for me. the alu cans and deposit bottles I have to take in separate but it does not take long and they have machines that count the cans but bottles I have to put in each one but it adds up fast.
