A few miles from here is a huge wood recycling company. The future of wood recycling is in fuel for biomass furnaces and boilers. They are very expensive to install but much cheaper than gas to run. The nursery I used to work at installed one that supplied a 200,000 gallon hot water tank to heat the entire operation. I think the boiler cost a few million dollars, but paid for itself in about 5 years. It might be a while, but at some point it is going to catch on.
There are also companies that buy junk wood to grind up as mulch, but they do not usually pay much, if at all. If you had access to a tub grinder you could make a few bucks on it.
