burly, mind me asking how you get 350 a piece? is that what you charge or is there enough scrap value in them to make up some of that number? I see free ones all the time but pass them up because I dont see there being much value in them

This is definitely going to be a semi easy job, compared to most. However, it is going to take me and 3 other guys who can lift 150+ to carry it. Therefore, I will charge the guy about $350 to $400.
He can either take it or not.
Thanks to all for the input.

i have never done a hot tub, i dont have a truck or the dumpster to dispose of it in
but just look at the ebay completed listings for 5hp pump spa , they are going for $150 an the low end with a very high percentage selling, i guarantee if you put them on there at $139 with free shipping they will sell out in less than a week
I buy and sell all types of scrap and escrap. I buy specialty and hard to sell escrap. I buy resale items. PM me or contact me at jghilino@hotmail.com
I AM ACTIVELY BUYING ESCRAP OF ALL TYPES. BOARDS, RAM, CPUS AND MUCH MORE
I tell them that's what the price is.
Not trying to be a smart a$$ or anything but it really is as simple as that. There are some that balk, and some that continue to shop around, but for the most part I get them.
I think there are 3 reasons I get them.
1. I ask questions that show I know what I'm doing.
2. I'm sure of myself when I talk to them. I don't stutter, stammer, or ask "Is that okay?" I sound professional and I say "Standard pricing for hot tub removal in that condition in your area is $350.00."
3. I have a professional looking video that shows them what they can expect with me.
By the way, here are the questions that make you sound intelligent to the customer. (Everybody who uses them please send me 5 bucks each!)
1. Is it drained?
2. Is it disconnected from power and water?
3. How big is it? (I really don't care, they're all about the same amount of work.)
4. Is it recessed into a deck? (Very important, the recessed ones can add hours to your labor costs.)
5. Is it encumbered in any way? You'd be surprised how many people build roofs and gazebos over their hot tubs.)
6. What is access like? Can I drive up to it? Any sprinkler systems or septic fields I need to be concerned about?
My most expensive hot tub to date was recessed AND under a gazebo and I charged em 700 bucks.
And they were happy to pay it.
We just passed the milestone of 100 hot tubs removed this week. 42 the first summer, a similar number last summer, and THIS summer we have already surpassed 20. I'm sure the video has something to do with it.
Hey George, Good luck with this, shouldnt be too hard. I did one for $200 and took the wires blower and heater out to sell. Don't try to lift using the brute force method. Always use a furniture dolly with big wheels. You never want to try to lift all the weight at once. What we did was tip the spa on its side onto a furniture dolly and just wheel it out to my truck. So, hopefully it is on concrete and there are no stairs. I had to take a gate off so, it could fit out the back yard but, wasnt too hard.
