Question for you cardboard guys.

what does it pay per ton in your area.I know around here i think it is $60 a ton.You have to have crap load to get 2000 lbs of cardboard.

Ok well I do pretty good with cardboard here,any business has to pay for there recycling,that said many business produce large amounts of cardboard my biggest producers of cardboard are moving and storage company,s.The price of cardboard vary,s I bale mine in a 96 inch bale each bale weight is Around 8 hundred pounds,my bales are loaded in a container and go to the port of Miami.Another factor is how close or far away form a port you are,the closer you are to a shipping port the better.The price of sixty dollars a ton mentioned in a prior post is for the masses that don,t know any better.This is one of my trucks that I do cardboard with and also trash outs with not at the same time.

I enjoy the fact that most people do not think there is any money in cardboard,I do not know about in your area,but here the larger cardboard guys use tractors and trailers with a piggy back fork lifts, a typical set up tractor, trailer,piggy back lift, around One hundred and twenty five thousand, for the complete truck set up. So I will ask you is there any money in cardboard????

Well I don't buy the cardboard from any stop,it's just like metal was in the old day,s.if you shop for buyers you can get over 110.00 a ton for cardboard,on a topical day with a driver and a helper they pick up 10-12 tons in a day,the truck and help cost 300.00 for the day you do the math,and I get more than 110.00 a ton some times it's better than scrap.

JGH, I think 1956 is telling us that 60 bucks a ton is for the great unwashed. I'm guessing it becomes more valuable as it is baled and moved in quantity. Plain virgin paper pulp made from trees is in the 500+ $/tonne range. I wouldn't be surprised if baled paper or cardboard isn't approaching a couple hundred bucks per ton, as it is a product that can be pretty easily converted back to pulp for reuse.

There of course is money in cardboard and paper. The problem is that there may not be much left depending on your area. Locally for me they pay 1.5 cent a pound for cardboard. That's 30.00 a ton (if my math is correct). It just isn't worth taking to the yards here.

It's exactly what '56 is saying. 60 a ton is for the general public. Just like boardsorts prices...for the general public. I can see lots of money in cardboard, an I live on a sandbar. Granted I also did retail for years prior to this..so all those stores, get their crap in cardboard, an most hate to deal with it, an the rules that go with a baler(nobody under 18 can use, etc) unless they already know an getting paid for their cardboard.

Hell tween this, pallets and ewaste...I think I'll be a happy camper.

I get paid by several casinos in my area to remove they're cardboard and metal. The only reason I remove the cardboard is because I get paid to do so and the metal of course. I get about 60 a ton as well.

well most places there is only one or 2 places that even buy cardboard and your pretty much stuck at $60 per ton no more.Yeah if you live by a port and all of that then you can make good money.There is money in it but you have to have alot to make any real money and it is time consuming

About $40 / ton last time I checked in our area. Only one buyer that I've seen.

It is at $125/ton for 20 to 22 tons baled. That is after transportation in my area.

Takes average of 3 man hours to bale a ton for us.

Profit is around $50 per ton. If you have to buy the cardboard and/or pick it up, profit drops quickly.

I have a huge source of cardboard ad have been thinking for years... There has to be money in this. Ive yet to find it. It would be a logistical nightmare for me.

A few years back the company I worked for was selling baled cardboard for 50.00 bucks a bale. They weighed 4-500 pounds each. That works out to around 230.00 per ton. If it was not baled they would not pay for it.
