i called them today they pay $55 per ton.I ask what if it is bailed she said how big of bales.i said 500-1000 oh thats a bundle a bale weighs alot more she said
If takes alot of cardboard to get 2000lbs worth

Ok fella's,thinking out of the box,what if you were the only store in town,that is the case with most paper recycling company's ,in fact a good portion of them are the mills,operating under blanket company's.The reason why they pay so little for the cardboard is simple
Because they can.Like said in past posts 30.00 a ton 60.00 a ton is the price that they pay because they set there own market,they have little or no competition so why pay more?Let me also say that cardboard is the lowest price of any paper,,just like tin or shred in the metal field.The real money is in office paper, magazines,and junk mail paper.these have much higher prices in the area of 300.00 a ton and more if baled in the right size bales,96 inch is what the buyers want not the small bales that most retail stores have,If I were younger I would jump at the chance to open a paper recycling center.It is true that you need a large yard with a covered area,a horizontal baler,a truck scale,and a bobcat or two,but not to much more.I hope that some younger guy's here, explore the great opportunity in this field.

$40 a ton here so $.02 a pound. But I had 65 pounds of it and was taking cans and plastic bottles there anyways so not great, but still an extra $1.30 LOL

The paper market is way down from a few years ago. Last week the Chicago High Side was $110 a ton for OCC delivered to the mill. That is the best price you will get for a full truckload (35,000-40,000 lbs) in the Midwest and from what I hear with the China slow down you won't get much more near the ports. So figure if you max out a trailer you would have $2,200, How much is it going to cost you to ship to a mill? Do you have a trailer to store it in while you waiting to get a full trailer? If not how much is the warehouse space going to cost you? How much fuel to pick up the cardboard? Our yard is getting out of fiber and adding steel. We make about the same per Ton that we would on paper but much more volume and easier logistics.
