Yep. Worst thing they could do recycling, mix it all up. That's why we separate scrap. I remember grandparents taking newspaper to the church to be recycled. Newspaper by its self or any other paper, paperboard or cardboard pays better than mixed

The main idea is to save on labor at the Transfer Station. That ... and people never seem to get the sorting right.
I used to bale cardboard at the grocery store i worked. We would put it up in 1200 lb bales. When we had 50 bales ... we would call in for a flatbed eighteen wheeler to come in and haul it 180 miles to market.
I ran the numbers. We had about 20 k. invested in labor. We got a return of $ 900.00 after deducting trucking costs on the last load we sent out.
It's funny .... they didn't believe me when i told em' they were losing money like crazy on the cardboard till they saw it for themselves. I just intuitively knew it was a bad deal from years of scrapping and the valuable things things i learned here.
