    sintra pvc sheets

At my work we get tons of sheets of pvc, all different thicknesses, usually 4x8 sheets. We cut out letters from the sheets and throw the rest away. The amount of waste we have is crazy, is there any market for this stuff?

    Chris,
Talk to your PVC supplier. Since the waste sheets are probably all in very good shape--ie not dirty, and could be sorted as per plastic type, they should have some good value to the OEM or a plastic regrinding outfit.

Over here in Western Canada, there is a lot of plastic used in the sawmill industry to line conveyor troughs and even as plastic sprockets on conveyor drives. There have been outfits that pick up the waste plastic and recycle it to people who regrind the plastic and actually sell it back to the sawmillers again!! Do a google search for Redwood Plastics if you are interested. They are huge into making plastic industrial stuff but make it with recycled plastic too.

The material used over here is usually a UHMW polyethylene or a urethane. I'm not sure how well PVC recycles but it seems to me as long as it softens with heat it can be recycled. (as opposed to something that is mixed together, and once it is cured it won't remelt.)

So, yes, you should be able to find someone to buy your waste. Maybe not a lot of money but it beats paying to landfill it.

    Jon.

Check out local plastic buyers. If you have the space to store truckloads (40,000lbs+) I would be interested!
