And interesting idea. Less trash is always better
But I have to admit when I read the title I imagined something different. Here's a story from my childhood (or previous life, depending on how you look at it). I lived behind The Curtain then. In late 80s the Empire started to collapse and there were shortages of anything you can imagine. Basic goods like food. But the weird thing was, people were really ready to start rioting in many places when tobacco products disappeared. Not bread of meat, but tobacco. During that period, a glass jar full of cigarette butts would be used pretty much like hard currency. You could get a lot in exchange for that. And those butts surely were not used to make clothes...
This is done here in the US by a company called TerraCycle. They recycle a lot of unconventional wastes. You mail in things like juice pouches, chip bags, cigarette butts, and shampoo bottles and you build up points to donate to a charity or your kids school. I do a couple of the different collection groups from stuff I find scrapping and I'm trying to get the local school to set up a program as well. It's cool to see another unconventional recycler, like us scrappers. Check them out at TerraCycle | Outsmart Waste
I found this interesting. I suppose it's a bit like making rugs from plastic bread sacks.
cellulose acetate, a natural plastic it seems that film is also made from. But can any plastic be healthy ingested and introduced in other means in humans and other life forms?
I have found it interesting that you don't hear about the DANGERS of wearing plastic clothing and being involved in a accident where you are burned by fire and the plastic clothing melts into your skin. I myself don't wear much plastic clothing as the natural fibers are safer, better wearing and breath better.
I believe that most cancers in children are caused by the plastics and other man made and mutated chemicals and consumer products that are claimed to be safe by prejudiced and powerful government organizations and the large companies that they protect.
Sorry to put such bummer information forth, but it is because most choose to try and ignore such realities that it just gets worse.
BUTT, they just as well make plastic clothing out of the cigarette butts as they make and sell new plastic clothing all over the world.
Give the many of the people what they want and ask for and keep the Honest Truth of the matters that bother people out of sight and out of mind.
People pay those in government and other high places to deceive and lie to them as long as the promises are exciting and tax free.
I stopped here out of shear morbid curiosity....lol
Great idea.. thank to share this
Hm the curtain it wouldn't have been made of iron would it? Lol it was Russia that had that right or was that germany?
Plastic clothing? What is that so I no not to get it.
Does that thing smell like an ashtray?
