Plastic backs of crt's? What other stuff do places pay you money to take to them? Where to go? Is it legal to go to Michigan if your from Indiana and take bottles and cans to get the .10 per can? What about cardboard that pop cans come in?

There was an old Seinfeld episode where Kramer drove a truck full of aluminum cans through several states to get more money. Great episode if you haven't seen it. He's running out of gas and trying to catch a thief. The only solution for him to have any chance with the thief is by throwing trash bags full of aluminum out onto the highway to reduce the weight of the truck. And then he pushes his chubby friend Newman out the door to reduce the load even more. A funny episode.
I believe (fairly sure, but not positive) that if you drove a load of aluminum cans across state lines that would be illegal. People pay deposits on the cans when they buy them and I think the intent of the law is to get the money back to the original purchaser, not someone else. Also, if you bring in the cans from out of state, there is a good chance that no deposit was paid. In this case, the state loses money. That said, how would they catch you unless you had a large quantity and were turning something in just inside the state border. In the middle of a decent sized state (a place like Flint, Michigan or Traverse City) I'd be surprised if they asked for any proof of local citizenship. I imagine that California might have an issue with people from Mexico bringing up stuff through the border. Frankly, I'm not sure if the border agents would do anything about this.
I hear another issue is that some locations don't want crushed cans because they can't tell as easily where they were bought. Not sure how that works.
I have read of people being prosecuted for selling aluminium cans sourced from a different state. (USA)
It was a large amount of $$ involved, semi truck loads, long prison terms & interstate laws broken.
I guess even in the states that to have a alloy can redemption setup that there's cans that get thrown out & not redeemed & so there's some sort of 'headroom' to absorb the cost of 'out of state cans'.
Still, its not something I'd do.
And, cans are redeemed for the same amount with or without the tab. If you take the tab off, you can sell the tabs as Aluminium for extra $.
Something I'd not do either. I think this is where the urban lefgenfs come from about "Can tabs being worth more than the whole can". ( lol. )
Plastic from back of CRT. Only if you are lucky and have a buyer
Can Deposit other states. Yes illegal
Cardboard Yes, Paperboard like box that holds soda once again only if you are lucky and have a buyer
Other things for cash, sell blood/plasma, wood pallets, carpet and carpet padding (if you have a local buyer)
Better than the dump!
People will buy anything. I sold three flat tires the other day.
dude bought them for his wife as planters.
Further proof - Just look at ebay.
Trick isn't if people will pay. It's finding the person who will pay.
I've had my Yoda moment for the day.

the plastic is ABS- one of the most difficult types of plastic to get buyers for.
here in SA, the buyers are only interested of u can give them a few tons every month and the surprising thing is that they pay quite a decent rate for it.
