I would have thought that the material is the same for both, but I guess it really depends on the manufacturers too.
and some of the better monitors have a large alum. shield right under the back when you take it off.
alot of them have sheets of alluminum surrounding the the whole thing. You take of the plastic and its like another case made of alluminum.
They use extra shielding and better quality material on the monitors to keep the noise hum from getting into the computer close by, tv companies don't have to worry about hum, so they build them as cheap as they can. A lot of people stack the monitor on top or right beside the computer.

Well, tomorrow I will be contacting the other Goodwills. Hopefully one of them says yes.

As of right now goes, I would have to keep them, and pay $65 per trailer load at a near by landfill.

There is a few places that will take them 2 times a month, but I think they have a limit.

...So you know, absolutely NONE of the Goodwills or any other thrift store/donation based store will take *just* the naked tube. Why would they?

I work with the goodwills, the salvation armys, etc. They barely allow *full* tv's to be donated. They sure as heck wouldnt allow just a naked tube to be donated.

I really don't understand how or why they took just the naked tubes.

According to there website they have a partnership with DELL for the recycling of CRT's and TV tubes. I dont know if they take just the glass part I screw the plastic case back on and turn them in without the guts.

They will take anything that they can make money off of.

People who started Goodwill, salvation army, and any other thrift stores are some smart SOBs. They get merchandise for FREE and sell for a PROFIT..

George, in Idaho, they do NOT take tube TV's. They get a LOT dropped off at night, after hours. I've been working with them for a couple years, i know they don't accept tube tv's. Now, that might just be a regional thing. Not saying i know everything about the company, but here that's how it is.

And parttime, could ya link me? Not being rude, just wondering. Could be kind of a good situation!

Appreciate that PTS, ill take a look at it. Once again wasnt being rude, if it all works out itd save me driving about 40+ miles twice a week to get rid of my tubes.

Well, I know the one here, sells them. They always have a few on the shelves. Also Salvation Army sells them for the price you can buy flat screen brand new almost.

Parttimescrapper, do they know that all they are getting is the glass and plastic bodies when you are dropping off?

They dont sell them here, because from what i've told, "too many people return them because they're broken". Which is good for me.

I can say yes, for all except for the Dell Latittude thing.

Like I said, I have seen them there before. However, I would be taking shells, not full monitors or tv's.

Who knows, perhaps she didn't get what I was saying. I will call again tomorrow. If she says no again, there is another just a few miles from me.

TVs are great but what to do with the Carcases. When you find one 1) put in van 2) take apart 3) put back together 4) When you find new one Trade it. 5) Pray no body See's
