Idk either, but I would like to know because I can get a whole dumpster full of the CDs and DVD and VHSs.
I read somewhere on the net that theres a machine that can cut a groove into the CD, just like on a record, & you can record sound onto the CD.
It would be ok if you had a plastic buyer all lined up.has anyone ever heard of recycling cd's and dvd's someone told me that they could be but he did not tell me how?
Are you sure they weren't talking about the players??

Wonder how CD/DVD's it takes to weigh in at 10,000 lbs?
AMERICAN BORN, AMERICAN BRED! AND I'M PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!!!
Average weight of a CD = 0.0396832072 lbs
10 000 / 0.0396832072 = 251 995.761 CDs
doesnt sound like a big number if you say it really fast
Wow, that's a pretty big number. Think I'll stick to the scrap metal. lol
I re-use them (cd's, dvd's, etc.) to hang in fruit & berry bushes & tress to ward off birds.
Does anybody know what material content (nickel, gold, aluminum, etc.) there is in CDs or DVDs?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compact_Disc go to Physical details and it it is there
A CD is made from 1.2 millimetres (0.047 in) thick, polycarbonate plastic and weighs 15–20 grams.[22] From the center outward, components are: the center spindle hole (15 mm), the first-transition area (clamping ring), the clamping area (stacking ring), the second-transition area (mirror band), the program (data) area, and the rim. The inner program area occupies a radius from 25 to 58 mm.
A thin layer of aluminium or, more rarely, gold is applied to the surface making it reflective. The metal is protected by a film of lacquer normally spin coated directly on the reflective layer. The label is printed on the lacquer layer, usually by screen printing or offset printing.

Thank you submarinepainter... Will do will little research and maybe find a market for them...
I hang a string of used CD,s around my nursery. So far it has actually kept the deer out which is a huge problem here on Long Island
Can anyone give me some at least kinda recent pricing on magnetic media? It would be possibe for me to obtain a large amount of just the tape from inside the cartridges. One would think that the magnetic film seperated would sell for more $$$.
Please let me know if you have any relevent info
