I'm a Brit, living in the US (NorCal). Not sure that I really qualify as a Vet, although I was shot at a few times by crazy Yemeni rebels, using single action breech loaders, while serving in the RAF as an Air Traffic Controller, in Dhofar state. (Now part of Oman), back in 1960. At least we had the Lee Enfield .303 and Bren guns

I'd just like to say a BIG heartfelt THANK YOU to any and all US Vets for doing what you did, in very trying and dangerous times. Thanks, Ed. (RAF 1958-1970)

US Navy 97-99 / medical discharge - reenlistment 03-07 Rate: MA (Master at Arms) I'm proud to have served, but after the fact, dealing with the VA was a total nightmare. I sure don't miss all the BS.

Well first off God bless each of the ones posted before me.

I served as a Dental Tech in the Navy for 5 years. Bootcamp was in Great Lakes, A-Schooled in Texas, station at San Diego, California, then Atsugi Japan before getting out.
The only semi interesting facts I have is,
    1. I'm a 3rd generation squid. My grandfather served, as did both my mother and father. My wife's family is mostly jarheads.
    2. My first week in boot camp was the same as September 11th.

Served in the US Navy from 2004-2008.

Was stationed on the fast attack submarine USS Santa Fe out of Pearl Harbor, HI. Ended up being stationed in Portsmouth, NH also during a DMP.

Best Job I ever had. Should have stayed in!

Was active Army until '98. Spent 1 year in South Korea (Camp Eagle), helping establish the first Apache battalion in Korea. The rest of my enlistment was spent in the 82'nd Airborne's Combat Aviation Brigade. My MOS was a 68H2P, which translates mainly to a job as eternal police call (haha) that was occasionally interrupted to work on aviation hydraulic systems and to be thrown from aircraft in flight.
