Got an invacare hoverround type electric wheel chair what should I make it into?

So I got an electric wheelchair, and also what I assume is a obese person lift, it looks like an engine hoist which was very useful to get the chair in and out of the back of my truck, I will save this hoist to load heavy barrels of scrap instead of blowing out my shoulder. Anyhow after a little rigging of the chair it seems to work. What is cool is it is missing the entire chair portion but still has the controller, and everything else needed to function I sat on a box on top of the batteries and rode out! I have already thought about re-gearing it, but I read that there is a way to re-program the controller for a little higher speed. It has a place I could easily mount a computer chair but I want to do something cooler, I even thought about a lazy boy but this is more up my alley.

Anyone messed with these before? Got any cool ideas?

When I watched that video I just pictured a mini-forklift. I don't know how practical it would be but you could use some sprockets off of a bike or something and drive them with a chain connected to an electric motor. Put some forks on it BAM mini-forklift. Might come in handy for moving heavy stuff around. I don't think it could be rigged to go very high but enough to assist would be decent.

That's an awesome Idea but with it only weighing 200lbs and me @ 125lbs if I lifted anything I couldn't lift myself I think it would tip.

Maybe check and see if you could donate it to a VA center for vet's to use or maybe your local American Legion. Their always helping the local vet's out. Better yet, when you find a good place to donate it to, have the newspaper come out and get a picture (unless your wanted) and do a write-up about your recycling company donating it. Win-win situation.

Part it out on the online auction sites. Serious money in parts. Also, you could reposition the controls and make it a joystick-driven wheelbarrow.

If ya keep it, don't drink an then ride it. You'll catch a dwi!

Man gets DUI for riding drunk in wheelchair

I vote for donating it to the Vets. failing that, you could pimp it out an have a sweet Segway type thing!
