    :( sad realisations :(

    If we live long enough, we all come to points of recognition in our lives that remind us just where we are in the journey. I remember when I had to give up racing. I remember when I became invisable to the hot young things, and later when I lost intrest in chasing them. I remember the exact day when I gave up scrapping cars and other heavy stuff.

    Yesterday I went for a putt on my yammer 750 , they had just graded my road and about 2 blocks away I got into some wet clay/sand and gently dumped it. I worked for about 20 minits trying to get it back up right, to no avail, and had to walk back to the house to get the boys to help me.

    when the road drys Im going to take one more last ride. then say good by to my last "big bike" and pass it on to my son.

    I refuse to give up on bikes ,been riding since the 60s. I do have my little scooter, but we in the know, know that isn't going to get it. what I need is some advice from some of you older bikers. I want a bike I can ride a hundred miles or so with plenty of power, (I now weigh about 150, down from my usual 225) but one that has the low center of gravity I can pick back up if I lay it down. I can still lift 70 to 100 lbs with a little effort.

    If a Can Am SPyder isn't your thing, then you have to go with a cruiser of some sort. Low center of gravity makes it easy to upright. Honda makes some nice ones cheap.
    Sorry to hear about your get off, it happens to all.
    There are those who drop and those who haven't yet.
    There are those who admit me (yep, dropped mine) and those who pretend it never happened.
    Glad to hear you are still walking and able to throw a leg over again.

    BTW, I assume you know the right way to lift a bike;
    Squat down and put your butt sideways against the seat. One hand grabs the handle bar, the other grabs the rear frame/seat grab handle. Unsquat using your legs to upright it. Not too hard or you dump it over onto the other side with you on top. There are youtube videos showing the right technique.
    That adreniline rush to upright it the wrong way will kill your back or hernia. (two hernia surgeries and one back injury).

    Looks like a three wheeler is in order. But if you tip one of those over you'll need more that a man and two boys to right again.

    In the mid 80's the Honda Ascot was a smaller bike 500ish cc that was still a kick in the pants to ride. It came in a V twin and a regular twin and I still see them on CList for 1000-1500 ever once and a while. Yamaha's Virago also came in a 535 cc V twin version.

    I've been riding since 1st grade and should get out more then I do, just to f'n hot this year.

    You could add a sidecar to your 750 and still look cool.

    As an added bonus you would have a place to stash any scrap you find on your journeys.
    If it wasn't for the $ in $crap, it would just be.....
