    Stiches Again

Had to take a trip to the Med-Express today. Was having a fight with a good size transformer in an old TV when the hammer slipped off the board and took my forearm across the top of the tube. Good news is that it was only 10 stitches an it wasn't in my hand this time. Will be looking for a new 1/4 socket so I don't have to fight with certain things!! If I would have just closed the TV up and let it go..... it wouldn't have happened but I always want that few extra cents.

On a positive note I did get an awesome haul last night and another this morning I also got a huge tub full of old cameras and binoculars each in a case and everything look brand new. The cameras were all Yashica brand, all in super condition cases, and some had extra cases with additional lenses. I've never heard of this brand before but I had a quick look on ebay at a couple of the model numbers and the ones they have on there are between 75.00-200.00 so if I decide to go that route maybe I'll make a few extra bucks!!!!

    Just wanted to share.

Wow, hope you're better soon. We did have an injury thread on here - can't remember the name of it (Mechanic?) - you could add your story to family history here!

    Sounds like a great haul.

I got cuts today trashpicking a big tv someone had left in pieces on the side of the street - got copper, boards, miscellaneous stuff - maybe they just broke it for fun, I don't know. I didn't need stitches but the suckers hurt!

TY You'd want me to stay away from that thread because I'd end up posting every few days. I was doing tear down and was filthy from head to toe when I went in. Didn't bother me a bit but I did get some looks and I just laughed. The doctor notice my hands and legs they have multiple cuts and scratches and a few super glued spots, this was when he first came in to look at my arm. He went and got a nurse to bring me a pamphlet about being in an abusive relationship full of numbers to get help. I laughed so ****** hard and tried to explain to her what I do and that all those are just part of the job.

You could tell the doctor was really embarrassed when he came back in. All they had to do is look in the computer and see that the last few times I was there I got by a TV.

Sharp edge where the fan is in a dryer housing has chased me around the work area and bit me several times, even through a leather glove.

Just the other day I was going at some washers and thought to myself I really should be wearing some gloves and next thing you know I had a gash on my finger and blood oozing out. I realized even with a small job got to be careful.

Wow, that's funny. I hope that big bruise on my shin that a falling computer thoughtfully created doesn't make people think I'm abused. Well, I am abused but it's by inanimate objects. I wonder if there is a support group for that. Oh yeah, this is it!

my bruises come from trying to rush by stepping over the tongue of either of my trailers INSTEAD of walking around. Tripping and falling on my face one day probably won't teach me either because I'm so hard headed! This is the best support group because it lets me know I'm not the only one. Betting we'd need another forum just to post daily injuries!

So far I've been relatively unscathed other than the occasional nick or screwdriver/chisel slip, but I did cut myself really deep right in the middle of my palm on a stupid computer case, carrying it to the trailer (holding it through the empty drive bays.) Some of the generic cheap-o cases have poorly cut edges, and are surprisingly sharp. This one was aluminum, which probably didn't help. That was a stinger Couldn't close my hand for a week without it hurting like hell.
Wear gloves when transporting stuff you've stripped down! Not wearing them while you're actually breaking stuff down is understandable (I know I don't, except for certain items) but there's no reason not to when you're just carrying carcasses, bits, and pieces.
