Officially Boycotting Workday Wednesday

Being Greedy got me into trouble again and I should have just named this thread "Cakes Injuries" so I'd have a place to post them all.


I found a speaker that was bigger than my head well this is the first one that I've seen that was mostly cast aluminum, so of course being greedy for that extra few cents it would bring me I just couldn't throw it in with my scrap. Grabbed the sledge hammer and the first few wacks worked out great, the next one made the speaker fly up and hit me in the eye and I swear I saw ****** stars as I was screaming like a little girl. I just covered it and as the tears were ready to roll the blood rolled instead. 5 stitches in my eyebrow. I was also told that the 10 stitches in my arm from last Wed. were getting infected and I was told to keep them covered, not work in a dirty garage leaving them exposed.



So I've decided even though Wednesday is my biggest day of the week and my most productive that I'm going to stop working on Wed. and try and make a different day be as productive. Last 3 sets of stitches have happened on Wed. and most blood drawing injuries that I super-glue happen on Wed. Good thing I'm not superstitious, I wouldn't even get out of bed on Wed. but than again my ceiling could fall on me, or my bed could collapse lmao

Any of you have a certain day of the week they always seem to get hurt or is it just me???:confused:

Safty-Safty-Safty!! That's why I don't smash things with hammers. Everybody talks about safty on this for then turn around and start smashing everything with sledge hammers. Your lucky you still have two eyes. Please be carefull.

Hope you are doing well!!! reminds me of the most expensive birthday gift i ever received. my wife decided to do something nice for me for my b-day and cut the hedges out front...well, 1 trip to the emergency room to stitch up her fingers and the RX bill............

OK, but I AM laughing at you. ONLY because you started screaming like a little girl. Hahahahahahaha. Ok. That being said. You need to take extra precautions while dealing with scrap. Not only could you lose an eye but you could also lose a finger, hand, arm or even your LIFE !!!!

Be MORE careful. It would suck for the rest of your life, if you lost an arm, leg, hand, eye or any thing else while trying to make a few extra $$$$$.

I preach safety as well and try to be super careful. I've been told I"m one of those super intelligent people that are so smart that they're stupid on the simplest things. I even let part of a copper cone that was glued go today, it wasn't coping off and I quicky remembered the stitches I'd gotten my finger and quickly put the back on the TV. I said NO injuries today and was being careful and well.....

This is the first time anything flew at my face, usually pieces just go flying across the garage. The way I work I'm always looking down and the safety glasses slip down a little farther, they still cover my eyes, but not where my eyebrows are! It's pretty swollen, so hopefully I don't wake up with a black eye.

KZBell & theelectronrecycler it's okay to laugh at me for acting like a little girl, as loud as I was it was better than cussing like a sailor because I'm sure my neighbors heard me.

Happyscrapper & theelectronrecycler: I'm trying to be more careful, seems it never fails something happens. I think I'm going to have to slow down and take my time working. It'll mean not making money as quickly as I do, but I'd rather keep all my body parts attached!! Besides, other than the water, none of the other people are going to come shut anything off if I don't pay in full within 7days, if it comes down to it, I'd rather be late on something.

I got my tetanus last year when I was fixing some junk stockade fence I picked up, nail went in my leg and before I knew it I was yanking the board sideways.... ughghghhg So I'm good for a bit. I've got the safety glasses (several) lots of heavy duty gloves, more first aid products than you can imagine and just stocked up on chocolate and sweets!!!

P.S. Dollar Stores are my favorite place to shop ((Not family dollar or dollar general I mean actual 1.00 stores))

Sounds like you need a long cold chisel and know how to use it. My preference is to clamp a vise grip to the chisel when driving it into some metal to wedge it apart. Hold the vise grip with your gloved hand while hitting the chisel, and always have the piece being split in a clamp or wedged in somewhere that it can't move or get out of control.

I'vew started wearing a pair of either safety glasses or the big sunglasses that fit over my regular ones when I smash stuff because things bounce you never thought would bounce lol

I'm guilty of this...not the YouTube part, but of smashing stuff in my garage without appropriate eyewear. (I do wear regular glasses, so I'm not completely "naked" but still.)

Anyone ever used those face shields from Harbor Freight? Do they work well? Goggles are okay, but they tend to fog up on me when I'm working.

Seems like I've never had more little scratches and cuts since starting messing with scrap metal in earnest.
