Because most people hit this site using a search engine looking for specific information and have no real reason to come back let alone join and post something.
Its like that on all the forums i am on. Some thread end up with a scary number of views and % of guests viewing
Always people reading, but never adding. I did it for a while before i started joining them.

Some are checking out the forum before they join, how many have mentioned here lately that they crept around here for a few weeks before they joined in?? And then add those bots that were mentioned and it gets crowded around here.

I use PayPal. Works like a charm as long as the other party has a PayPal account. All that's exchanged is email addresses.

On the main page, down at the bottom where you see "there are xxx users online...", you can click on that number, and it'll show you who's reading what threads.
I didn't see them mentioned in this thread, but yeah. Most of the "guest" users you see are not actual people, they're search engine spiders, reading the threads. They do that so that when you, for example, Google "Ewaste", it knows what links to show you as results.And then add those bots that were mentioned and it gets crowded around here.
