If you get alot of books, try to find a paper recycler and see if they will buy your books to recycle. I have a guy that buys all my books, hard back, paper backs, mags.,catologes, and phone books. He only pays .02# but books add up fast.

Books go as Mixed paper here for .02 also.

Anyone know of any Paper buyers in the middle of the USA? We have a connection to a used book store that trashes a lot of "bad" books. (ripped, written on, old magazines....). Even at $.02 a truck load would be worth it.

I have used a few of those type of sites. I dont know if i used this specific site but they are all similar. 1st thing i would say is to do a google and bookmark that first page of results. Then do searches on a few of them and look for customer reviews/comments. that is kind of hard bc a lot of them are wrote by the companies just like all company reviews online, but you can find some real ones.

The main problem w/ these sites is that they quote you a price for your book based on what condition you say it is in. Here is where the customer reviews come in. There are some of these companies that appear to always down grade the price based on a torn or dirty page. If you see a lot of people complaining that they got cheated, skip the site.

Basically if they get the book and disagree w/ its condition you have to pay for postage to get it back if they even offer that option. Other sites say that if you send them the book, it belongs to them and you get whatever price they want to pay. I tried a few and i think i had 1 of 3 of them downgrade my books condition. almost all colleges have 2-3 days at the end of semesters where they contract w/ an outside company to come in do "book buy backs." You might want to try those. Some will let only let students make transactions but others it is free to the public. You can call and ask. Most of the time the companies only send a couple people to the college and it's too busy for them to answer calls about specific books. If i had a load of books what i did was search the companies like in your link for my books and if they wanted to buy the book then most likely the college buy book would too.

Powells.com in Portland, OR has always treated me well. Ive done several boxes of books with them via postal service. They give you a postage label to stick on your box, thy pay media rate shipping. Its .50 to 5.00 a book, usually around a buck a piece, but i just went through my bookshelf and made $80 on books I've bought at yard sales and thrift stores over the last few years. I've actually taken my phone with me into the thrift store during a "$1 a bag" sale, sat there punching in ISBN numbers, and seeing which books they want. It's time consuming, but I can make $30 on a bag of books no problem. After a while, you start sensing what they'll want. (New books, niche books, hardcover kids books, etc) I've been surprised several times by their offers. Just my .02....
