    Need help on determining value!

Okay, so I got a call from a car dealership owner telling me that they had a property in Great Falls, VA with big storage shed full of metal in it, and wants it all gone.

He described everything to me, and I told him, that I would not charge for a load that size. So, my helper and I went to the located. My trailer is completely filled with a bunch of cast iron, several batteries, a wood chipper (not sure if it works or not. Looks to be in GREAT shape, but not sure if it needs a tune up or not.

Anyways, when we pull up, we notice a john deer tractor, with a blue bush hog, and then next to that, is a red attachment used for digging up the dirt when your getting ready to plant crops. Then, in the shed is another one like that, but much older and FREAKING HEAVY!!!!

Anyways, if anyone can give me some sort of value idea on what the tractor and accessories are worth, I would appreciate it. I have already had a high offer of $500 cash for it all. Normally I would jump all over that, but I am sure it is worth more than that.

I had another gentlemen who initially offered $300, but I can get more than that just in scrap value.

    Thanks everyone.

that's an old tractor, probably a 50s. There's some antique tractor forums

You can find the year by using the serial number, and do a google search for the list

most people will probably try to give you scrap value, maybe a little more. if you advertised it on craigslist you might do much better

I did advertising it on craigslist for sale in the farm and garden section. Almost 10 people interested, all wanting to know what I am looking for, but I have no idea what any of it is worth. I know brand new what it is all worth, but not used.

I just have the pictures. I didnt think about selling it, until after we left.

I have like 12 people interested now, as well as my brother in law and his friend. I saw some old tractors that kind of like the same on some website, and they were selling just the tractor for $3,500 plus.

looks kinda like a Model B,just what i dug on and image search. that might put it in the late forties.think they switched to numbers in the 50's. But i'm no tractor guy. might give ya something to work on. yeah i have heard of the smaller tractors selling for more than they cost brand new.

Looks like you made the ultimate score, especially for free.

Here's a link to a site that I'm a member of. Lots of info there:

Antique Tractors - Yesterday's Tractors : Antique Tractor Headquarters

I'm not a big J Deere person, but if you have any Ford or Dearborn equipment, I know a bit more.

    Good Luck...

Not arguing, but and you are right about the steering column, but aside from that, all the older john deeres I have ever seen, look the same as that one. Perhaps it was modified or something.

I honestly dont even know where to begin to navigate that site lol

However, I appreciate it, and soon as I have a serial number or something to go on, then I will check it out even more and probably post a thread on the site. Thanks again.

I agree with that George. Looks like a john deere MT , missed that on my first round of going thru pictures. But it also looks similar to a 1948 John Deere M. John Deere M

    No big deal.

The link you provided, it looks very, very similar, except for the exhaust pipe on top, but aside from that, from what I can tell, it looks to be about the same.

Thanks PTS...I really appreciate your imput. Aside from the bush hog, and the red tiller (I believe it to be a tiller anyways), there is a long (about 8 to 10 foot), really old tiller in the shed we are cleaning out. I dont know if it is for that tractor or not, but I know atleast what it is, and that it weighs a freaking TON! lol

Not sure about the value of the cultivators or bush hog but i have seen many sell at farm auctions. The tractor looks to be an early 40s B model but not positive on that. If you have trouble identifying it look up oneloneyfarmer on youtube and he should be able to tell you what it is
