Hi George, nice haul on the tractor and equipment. The tractor is definitely a Deere either M or MT as others have said. I think the picture ad you posted is about right. They have theirs for sale for $2700 after spending $900 in parts. I've done some restoring and know that it costs a lot even when doing the work yourself. My first gut instinct was if you had it down here in Alabama, I'd offer around $700 as is. If you get it running, usually not too hard if the block isn't cracked or some other major problem, it would bring at least $1500. Going for more than that you have to start putting money in and need to figure how much each input is going to bring up the value.
The red piece is a disk harrow. I've sold several of those for $100 to $300. They are usually an easy sell if you contact deer hunters who need these smaller disks for planting food plots in the woods. I can't remember what company makes bushhogs in blue, Ford maybe, Long more likely. If it works, it could be worth $200 to $300. If it doesn't work (gearbox bad) it's not worth fixing and just cut it up. The last gearbox I bought was over $500.
Bear in mind that these are Alabama prices and you might do better in your area.

Agreed...To do a quality restoration on most any tractor, you will spend more on the resto than you would ever sell it for. If you can get it in running condition and just clean it up a little, it should bring some good money.

Not totally sure. My brother in law's friend went out there with me. One side said M, the other side said MT.
But from the pictures I seen on Google Images, I believe it to be a 1948 model.
Jenkins (my brother in law's friend), knows a lot about the stuff, and was very cool by going through and telling me everything that would need to be done to get it back into working condition.
He did state that the brush hog probably worked still with no problems, because they are very hard to mess up, but that the red piece of equipment did not go to the tractor, or at least he didn't believe it did. He did say that the red piece of equipment was a tiller for like a garden, etc.
He said that he saw tons of them online selling for $2,000+ but that was with the tractor running. So that is why I said if he and I cannot work out a fair deal, I will email the 12 interested parties and start the auction off at $2,200 for the tractor and accessories, and then whatever it widdles down to, will be it.

did you get a serial number off of it? can usually find the year based on the serial number. Does it run? How many hours are on it? I was at 2 tractor junk yards earlier today looking to repair my MF and -as always-see a lot of JDs.

The red piece is a disc, it is a separate piece of equipment. It is used for tilling and should be worth somewhere in the range of $600-$750. The smaller size like that are in demand with hunters to prepare food plots. Should be a quick sell via CL.

I wouldn't get to excited about the brush hogs, most of the time the gear box is trashed inside, now the JD is something to jump up and down about anything Green brings in a good selling price. If the tractor turns over you can expect more value, then running even better yet.Okay, so I got a call from a car dealership owner telling me that they had a property in Great Falls, VA with big storage shed full of metal in it, and wants it all gone.
He described everything to me, and I told him, that I would not charge for a load that size. So, my helper and I went to the located. My trailer is completely filled with a bunch of cast iron, several batteries, a wood chipper (not sure if it works or not. Looks to be in GREAT shape, but not sure if it needs a tune up or not.
Anyways, when we pull up, we notice a john deer tractor, with a blue bush hog, and then next to that, is a red attachment used for digging up the dirt when your getting ready to plant crops. Then, in the shed is another one like that, but much older and FREAKING HEAVY!!!!
Anyways, if anyone can give me some sort of value idea on what the tractor and accessories are worth, I would appreciate it. I have already had a high offer of $500 cash for it all. Normally I would jump all over that, but I am sure it is worth more than that.
I had another gentlemen who initially offered $300, but I can get more than that just in scrap value.

The JD in your picture is a row crop. from the 50's judging by the paint I would venture a guess that it has been recently restored. Personally I would have preferred one that was not simply because the parts are worn and loose whilst a rebuilt engine the parts are tight more subject to seizure.
At any rate George good find, hang in there for a good price, 500 is way too low, should be closer to $3500.00 up. The tires even look decent, how are they for weather checking, any rust near the valve stem, this usually indicates a calcium leak, if there's rust at the valve stem you can bet inside the rim is far worse.

UPDATE!
There is was 2 different serial numbers (we are not sure why) and 2 different stickers (M & MT).
We did determine it was roughly a 1948 model M tractor.
We found several sites where they sold for $2,000 to $6,000 WORKING! Unfortunately, this tractor needs about $1,000 or little more in repair work to get it operational.
So, out of 14 people that was interested, since my brother in law's friend was offering the same as everyone else, I decided to deal with him. So, he is paying me roughly $500 to $600 for everything, plus another $200 to help him move it all. He had a friend that was supposed to trailer it all, but he keeps cancelling, so he and I worked out another deal for transporting too.
So tomorrow, we will be moving all 4 pieces, and at the end of the day, I have almost $1,000 in my hands. Could be more, but atleast I know it is cold hard cash in my hands to do some shopping with for Christmas.

Even at scrap prices id rather see something like that remain in private hands, it might be a great barn find 40 years from now. You did well george and its the cash in hand that talks and the fact you didnt have any expenses involved that makes all the difference.

Not really. The tractor weights less than 3,500lbs, so at current scrap yard prices for me, the tractor and accessories, would have brought maybe 400 to 500 tops.
This way, I am getting paid for the tractor, accessories, and for transporting it all for him.
He is a great guy. Hes a good friend of my brother in law's and mine, and told me that to give him first dibs on anything I come across, and if he wants it, he will make me a cash offer on the spot.
