Looking for help in the NOVA area tomorrow!

I have a client out in Bristow VA that I am supposed to pick up a 1975 Clark 15D forklift from. According to him, it weighs roughly 6,700lbs. Maybe a little less. He says the new one they just bought ways 6,700 and the old one idential, just a different model.

I have hauled plenty of cars and trucks, but none were that heavy. He said he might be off a few hundred lbs, but definitely in the 6,000+ range.

I was going to use my father in law's dully and our car trailer, but it is not running (just found out today) and I dont have time to get it looked at and repaired.

I have hauled a forklift in the past with a flatbed tow truck, but they went back on agreement at the very last minute, and took over $400 of the $600 we made off of it, and then my partner at the time and I only made $100 each. So not looking to get screwed all over again.

Basically I just need someone that I can call if my truck will not be able to haul it. You will just need a truck (preferablly dully but as long as you know you can haul it, that is fine) or a tow truck.

I am willing to do a 50/50 split.....or if you know anyone in the area looking to buy one (it works and it is propane), above scrap value, then I am opened to selling it to them, and either have them pickup or we can take it to them, and then you make a quick couple hundred.

Just shoot me an email. I will be at the place around 12pm, so if I need someone, I will be calling around 1pm or so.

    Thanks.

Just call local tow companies and get a written estimate and hold them to it.....If your hauling it straight to the yard go with them get the check in your name and give the tow company their pay......Don't let these guys jerk you around

If it works I would haul it to the nearist auction yard and let them sell it. You will definitly get more than scrap value for it.

Rent a box truck and haul it. Less than a hundred with gas.

I did a mapquest between the 2 places (my clients business and the scrap yard) and luckily it is less than 4 miles apart. So, I am confident more that I can do it myself, as long as my truck can pull it without damaging my brakes. If I cant, I will just call a local tow company and have them tow it, which will cost less than $100. It is generally like $65 hookup and a few dollars per mille

Only issue with that PTS, is that I dont know of any near me, nor what they will charge to auction it off, and because of its age, if it will even sell. Plus, no room for storing it until I find a reputable auction house.

One of the things I have been looking for is a decent shop some where to rent out, but not are of interest to me as of yet.

If it is like the last one I took, it will be $600 or more, which is not bad, considering cars are only $200 to $300 right now.

In the long run, that would be tru, but here you have to put a BIG deposit down, and whatever else. Just to much headache for me.

Did you put it on craigslist to see if any one wants it? Sometimes I feel you like to overcomplicate things.

If I had the extra cash Id give you a grand for it and you wouldn't even have to leave your computer. Bad part is that extra grand is in boxes and computers out in the shop

I did put it on craigslist, but no takers as of yet. I have till tomorrow morning at 11 to see if anyone replies.

Not trying to complicate anything. I know what my truck can and cannot do. However, the distance between the 2 is much closer than I anticipated, so I feel more confident than what I did before.

That would be nice. Hell, even $1,000 would be nice, but like I said, no storage or anything. If I dont get this done tomorrow, there is a chance it will go to someone else, so $500 to $600 is better than nothing right now.

Auction house takes a reasonable percentage, no out of pocket for you. Some will even pick up the item.

If you are going to scrap it at least try and pull some of the non-ferrous off it.

Okay, so I arrived today, and the owner and I come to the conclusion that there wasn't no possible way of getting it on my trailer. Which sucks.

So I did some quick thinking, and either tomorrow or Sunday, my wife's brother is taking a flat bed to go pick it up. He actually wants the thing, so he is going to be paying me for it.

All in all it works out. I get to make money, keep a happy client, and help my brother in law too.

Since I couldnt take the forklift, the gentlemen gave me a BIG power unit for a computer server room. It was used to keep the flow of electricity stabalized through out all the servers so none got to much, or some kind of crap like that lol

Anyway, that sucker was 1,480 lbs....got just a little over $100 for the thing, so atleast my trip wasn't a total waste, and the other money will be in my hands by Sunday at the latest.
