when the australian dollar is worth more than the U.S. dollar.

$1 aussie use to buy 70c american, that was normal, now $1 aussie buys $1.05
this is great for bullion investors here, if things ever went back to normal then there's an instant 35% increase for us.

anyway, so I thought i'd give you a heads up on chinese words seeing as though you mght all be speaking chinese in a few years..

When a giant portion of people vote simply for more ENTITLEMENTS, cause they make more on free housing, free medical, free food, free cash, programs for electric & gas, than they can working.

I went to a building with a crapload of old metal in their fenced in yard. When I asked about it I was told they "were currently interviewing candidates to haul away their scrap metal."

When your employer lays off a third of its workforce and uses it as an excuse to put you on a nine year pay freeze and expects you to do twice the amount of work.

When you are hired to help someone move out in order to turn the house over to the bank, and the amount you have to charge for the move is equivalent to what the bank is paying for the cash for keys payment. We moved a big full two story house with basement and garage, including moving a project car with no wheels, several auto engines, spent all day until 11 pm, charged $2400. The bank offered $2400 for the house in broom clean condition.

That's on the low side, burly. How many men did you use, for how many hours? Also, be careful about being properly insured and registered as an HHG carrier, its a whole nother ball game.

I charge $85 hourly for a crew of two movers. Standard around here seems to be around 90-100 hourly. I used six men, total of 30 hours. Because this is a friend I dropped 5 bucks hourly. Now he's *****ing about the price. ;-)

I'll bite, what is HHG? Sounds like a drug...

Hhg, is household goods. You are correct about the general avgs. Ours are higher in this area. $115 first two men + 40$ each addtl man per hour. 285$ hr for 6 men. Would have been an $8000 job here. Then again we are at teamster rates and almost everybody has a minimum of 10 years experience.

    Sorry for derailing op.

I have been looking for a tool that crimps eyelets for a new sulfuric stripping cell I designed. I have been having the hardest time finding one that works for 1/4 eyelets. Just 20 years ago you would be able to walk into an Ace Hardware and purchase 3-4 different types of die sets to do exactly this, now the choices are reduced to one.

Walmart, Target and Walgreens all used to carry the tool to crimp 1/4 eyelets, but now, not only do they not carry these, but they don't even sell them on their website.

You know the economy is doing bad when you cannot purchase, even the most simple tools locally.

So, my indication that the economy is doing bad is when you walk into a Walmart, and their tool section has been reduced from 4-5 isles, down to half of one side of one isle. When you realize that Walmart is making the change from selling mostly non consumable items, to consumable grocery items. When they switch from selling things people don't have to have, to things people have to have just to live. As people stop purchased goods, they will still continue to purchase food.

You can tell the economy is doing bad when discount retailers stop carrying common items.

when you are waiting at the drive up coffee cart and somebody jumps in your truck with a pipe b*mb strapped to them and says drive. They've just made a withdrawl from
a bank across the parking lot. This actually happened on Saturday.

Also when people are doing their Christmas shopping by following the UPS truck and picking up packages from porches. If they don't like whats in the package they kick the door in and see whats inside. five doors on one block.

Man, that's just messed up! I guess that's one of the reasons why shipping rates are so high, plus how much diesel fuel is.
