Gun confiscation !

There will never be a gun ban in the US, there is too much money to be made selling guns to US citizens (profit over everything else). People complaining that they need their shack full of assault guns to overthrow the government when the time comes cracks me up, exactly what are you going to do when the tanks and drones roll into your neighborhood? There are more guns then people in the US, even if they banned all sales and started taking all the guns the government knows about there will be enough left (along with amunition) to invade and take Canada. I own an old Remington Viper 522 rifle (.22) used for nothing but target shooting, still even that rifle can kill easily enough I don't need an assault rifle to cause trouble.

Look at Chicago, you CAN'T legally own a handgun period. There is just as many if not more guns then anywhere else. Pull up any scanner app and select Chicago , its the number one frequency monitored in the USA. Count how many times you hear shots fired .....and you never hear about them on the news.

First of all did you not get their wanting to include ANY rifle capable of accepting a magazine larger than ten rounds. I forget how big the magazine is on your viper but I'm betting someone makes a 20 round mag for it so it'd fall under the term "assault rifle". Not most peoples definition of a assault rifle but it's how it'll be if the law passes.

Secondly, it's called guerilla warfare. Worked pretty dam good for the vc back in 'nam. Drones, tanks, blah blah . No one, not even the Chinese and Russia could conquer the US unless they killed every single person here cause we're armed to the hilt here. Think about it, maybe might be a reason the US hasn't been Invadved in over 200 years.

The above link is the most coherent and thought out post I have seen thus far on the gun issue. It is a looong read, but well worth the effort if you have the time. It will arm you for your verbal battles against those that want to take your guns from you.

The 20 round clip was rare and aftermarket, I have a few remington 10 round clips which is what it came with.

Last I checked the brits burned down the White House in 1814 (a little less then 200 years ago). If a regular army can be defeated on its own soil then an untrained militia doesn't realy have much of a chance either. Vietnam is different because half the country (the enemy side) was never allowed to be invaded, if it was the war would have been over VC or no VC (and the VC were pretty much completely destroyed during the tet offensive anyway). Anyway no nation other then England has invaded the US because no other nation has a navy large enough to get a sizable army here. To be honest if China was connected to us by a land bridge and managed to defeat our standing army there would be no resistance. Veitnam, Korea, Afghanistan have long histories of fighting invaders (and dying by the hundreds of thousands to millions) over decades of time something I don't think this country would have the stomach for.

Biily, as a volly fd member in NY for over twenty years this hit a little to close to home. One of my issues with this case is how did this scumbag ever see daylight after beating his grandma to death with a hammer. Death penalty might not stop them all but its a good start.

1. US was not defeated in the war of 1812. Washington burned. But the war was won by the US.
2. An untrained and outnumbered militia that had very little domestic support defeated the British the first time around.
3. There were plenty of VC running around after Tet.

Another simple fact of the matter is that politicians are afraid to outright crap on the populace when it is armed. When people fear their government, there is tyranny; when government fears the people, there is freedom. A very scary possibility, with the current economic condition and legislative BS going on is that a collapse will be allowed to happen, with sweeping "gun control reform" right before/adjacent to the collapse; a very convenient crisis to declare martial law or even "ask" for UN involvement to "control the situation."

The War of 1812 was at best a draw, neither side got exactly what they wanted and the only major battle the US won was after the peace treaty was signed. You also have to understand that the war was going on at the time Great Britain was fighting Napoleon in Europe ( a war that mattered), at best the US was was a side show.

What happened in 1776 has little to do with today. Even there without French support there would be no USA today.

Tet destroyed the native South vietnamese VC, the guys running around after that offensive were northerners. If anything it just made the final north win that much easier since there was no large local militia anymore to have to listen to. That whole war showed that the military even in victory didn't have the support of the very people you exepct now to fight that kind of battle in their backyard without superior tech.

Japan could never land troups or support them anywhere in mainland US.

By no resistance I mean nothing like you seen in an Asian war where the population will fight for dacades and lose a million or more people to a determined occupation. The US took out over a million Vietnamese and they never gave up, I don't think the people around here could stomache a long war like that in their back yards taking those kind of casulties and still keep fighting.
