Ya so the remaining people will just surrender and accept life under a tyrannical government?

the second ammendment was established, not so we the people could attack the government or any other country. it is plain and simple to prevent our government or another country from attacking us. its worked pretty well for 250 years. ask the Mexicans under Santa Anna or the Japanese under Tojo.

in the current culture in America almost half will put up with any thing as long as they have moma gov taking care of them. most of the other half will always wait until its too late.

In the American revolution 15 % backed the revolution only 5% actually fought it

Someone please define "assault weapon". It has only been in our vernacular for a short time, and the term is used as a fear-tool more often than used properly.

There is no concrete definition. In NJ under Gov Florio, a BB rifle was an assault weapon due to the capacity to carry many rounds. Also an M1 Garand was an assault weapon due to the bayonet lug on it.

BTW, guns have already been confiscated by the government with little notice. Google "Katrina weapons confiscated" and you will see denial and then admission. Look on Youtube and you will be shown videos as well.

Thanks to all vets.

You have to deal in specifics to reach a specific goal. My belief is that people who hate guns dont want to define it because their ultimate goal is to remove guns from private ownership entirely. Gun lovers are smart enough to know that if one restriction is enacted, more will be sure to follow. I'm sure there is a middle ground somewhere but there has to be assurances that no other changes will happen. Obviously, though, we cant trust our politicians to make a promise and keep it (ie: Obama "taxes on middle class will not go up" LOL!)

The term assault rifle was coined by Adolf hitler back in WW II in refence to the mp-44, I believe that's the model number, due to the smaller round it fired. To me an assault rifle is somewhere in between a carbine or sub machine gun, a rifle that fires pistol ammo, and a high power rifle.
