They fired 8 total for refusing the shot, because they made it "mandatory", some places are doing that now.

Nurses Fired for Refusing Flu Shot - Yahoo! News

Got one two times total in my life, 2 days later, sickest I'd ever been both times. Whether I'm allergic to something in the shot or what I don't know, but have stayed away ever since figuring third time might be the charm.

MIL gets one every year, seems like she's sick every month from fall to summer and still ends up with the flu some years, but then she's a people person...I'm a hermit. lol

I refuse to get any flu shot ever, in the rare instance I get sick, I keep working and it goes away in a couple days. I tried to explain this to a couple stooges at the University I was visiting the other day when they tried to recruit me to get a flu shot for a discount. They got rather uppity and in my face about how "everyone NEEDS to get one, I'm no exception, I'm putting myself at risk, etc"... It's a good thing I have a lot of self-control or else I would've hit the guy. haha

I got a very nasty pneumonia in my thirties ( had meningitis and iritis with it ) - they never could tell me for sure what it was but the doc thought it was pneumococcal pneumonia that caused all of it. I got a pneumococcal vaccine years later since it is recommended for --um- older people - since I didn't know if that was what I had but I sure didn't want anything like it again!

There were nurses fired around here because the shot is mandatory and they refused. I can see both sides of it really (that is generally my problem!). On the one hand it is your body, but on the other hand you are already working with people who are sick - which makes you more likely to contract the flu and also more likely to pass it around to your patients and co-workers - not to mention taking home to your family.

That kind of aggravates me sometimes that the tech's that put on/take us off of dialysis get paid just enough that they have to work their 40 hours or what ever it is to keep up, so they sometimes come to work with a cold?? or whatever coming on. That really puts us patients at risk not knowing if your gonna catch whatever's walked in the door that day.

Kind of like the Dr's office, if you weren't sick when you walked in you will be before you leave,,,

I am unable to take flu shots due to immune reactions. My first and only flu shot in 2010 put me on the CDC's bad reaction list and caused an autoimmune reaction of which I'm still fighting with medications today. I had the flu once in my life in 2003 which ended up as pneumonia.

There's even things like formaldehyde and aluminum salts in vaccines, which have other worries all their own.

I myself don't get the vaccines, never had the flu despite working a register at a gas station, or theater for the better part of 5 years, spending 4 years in the miltary, not using hand sanitizer, and only washing my hands when I feel it's needed (after bathroom trip, particularly dirty day etc... )

Might get sick once a year... if even that much.

I have never taken a flue shot, and now that I am older, there is no way I will ever take a flue shot, even if "Obama-Care" makes it law.

There is now real evidence linking flue shots to many of the mysterious ailments that children have been diagnosed with in the last recent decade. In certain areas, it is being blamed for causing all kinds of very serious developmental issues.

PLUS, flue shots contain MERCURY. Yes that's right, they contain mercury. And I don't care in what small amounts it's claimed they have, it still has poisonous mercury in the shot itself. And if you haven't noticed the media, every year it seems they are reporting some new type of flue strain that can KILL people, yet fail to mention at the same time that one of the number one killers in this country are pharmaceutical drugs.

While flue deaths are estimated between 3,000 and 47,000 there are no actual numbers of how many people may have died from flue.

CDC - Seasonal Influenza (Flu) - Questions and Answers Regarding Estimating Deaths from Influenza in the United States

Remember, that is an estimation, there really is no way of knowing how many people have, or have not died from the flue.

However, we have pretty good numbers on how many people have died each year from prescription drugs taken legally

100,000 Americans Die Each Year from Prescription Drugs, While Pharma Companies Get Rich | Alternet

And if you need 10 good reasons why you should not allow any doctor to stick you with a flue shot, read this article.

10 Reasons Why Flu Shots Are More Dangerous Than a Flu! | Be Well Buzz

When you start putting things into perspective, you start to wonder why anyone would allow themselves to be purposefully injected with mercury and other really bad things. It's because of advertising. Every news agency reports every year how bad this years flue season is going to be. Yet can anyone on this forum honestly say that they know of anyone, personally, ever to have died from the flue?

I wouldn't take it, no way, not in any shape form or fashion. It makes me sick that so many people, millions of sheaple are suckered into taking the flue shot every year. CNN always posts scary information about the flue seasons, but you are probably a lot more likely to get struck by lightning or bit by a shark than you are dying from the flue.

They are saying that the shot is only about 62% effective against the flu and that you might get sick anyway, but if you do it won't be as bad etc.

As far as mercury goes - it's in a lot of stuff - here they let all kinds of mercury containing items go straight into the landfill -so eventually it ends up in the water.

That's why I try and eat as clean as I can, try and let my body do what it can to remove toxins. I've also read things such as Cilantro pulling Mercury out of your system, don't know how much truth there is to that, but Cilantro is good and it can't hurt. :-)

Because I work with metals in aqueous solution, I take Zeolites. They do an amazing job stripping heavy, and other metals, out of your body. They cannot be broken down in a human body, and any metals they come into contact with are locked up in the zeolite structure so once inside the zeolite, it takes hydrofluoric acid to break them out again.

If anyone would like to know what brand I use, message me privately and I'll let you know. I'm not a big fan of promoting products for many reasons, and I don't feel it's right to post them on the board as well. But honestly, anyone that works with metals, should be using some sort of kelation that works. So far as I am concerned, aluminasilicates (zeolites) formulated for this reason do a better job than anything else.

There are many different forms of Zoelites, some are designed for human use, others for catalytic converters for the oil industry, and still others in ion exchange resins for precious metal recovery. They are probably one of the most used, and least talked about minerals.

I'll take any excuse to eat my homemade salsa with a ton of homegrown cilantro (when it's in season, that is!). Thanks for giving me another reason.
