A, why can't your yunguns walk home, or take the dang bus?

and B. Why do you have to snarl the traffic all over a five block radius from every #$!@ school in town?!? Park on THE SIDE of the street, NOT THE MIDDLE!
But all those soccer moms voted for a no idling law infront of the schools,

the biggest thing that grin my gears is these scrap vids on youtube that show people how to strip tvs, microwaves without showing the safety first eg the cap and the stored energy that may be waiting to zap the uninformed scrapper.

I am grateful to those who contributed knowledge to the forum and I am grateful to the forum owners for providing this platform.
I can't currently afford to join the Scrap Room - maybe I should just stop being a sponge and never log on again?

That would cut down on the number of visits they receive which in turn determines what they can charge for advertising.
It also cuts down on contributed content that they get for free - content - not mine specifically but everyone's - is what draws people to the forum.
I think if only the Scrap Room Members were to be on here it would probably harm the owners of the forum rather than help them.
Just my two cents. Changing to a paid members only forum is one option that they have, why do you think they haven't gone to it?

way off topic but yes this will go to a members only forum if not enough people are putting in, the pyramid scheme does not work without enough people at the base to support it, eventually there will be enough members to support this on its own plus all the contributed material is already here,I dont think its unreasonable so save up a couple bucks a month toward a membership, if this is such a great forum it should be worth every copper penny as you say

people that do this really grind my gears:
I buy and sell all types of scrap and escrap. I buy specialty and hard to sell escrap. I buy resale items. PM me or contact me at jghilino@hotmail.com
I AM ACTIVELY BUYING ESCRAP OF ALL TYPES. BOARDS, RAM, CPUS AND MUCH MORE

When people borrow my tools, and fail to return them. When I ask for them back they refer me to the person that they re-loaned them to. When people don't respect the fact that I carry my tools for MY convenience and have no sense of responsibility for them, that really grinds my gears.

Where did you get this information? How did you draw these conclusions? Look at the bolded part of the quote, where did most of this info come from? Non paying members. Why do you think it's ok to take all of the information credit on this forum just because you payed $20 to have access to more information? There is a reason that there is a FREE forum section and a PAYED area of the forum. I know I paid for access to that information, BUT I would NEVER put myself higher up on any totem pole or pyramid just because I paid a little bit of money. Most of the information on this forum is from Non paying members, and I have learned A LOT from non paying members, and I am VERY grateful they are here. Have you considered how much money the forum gets out of advertising? If less people come to the forum (Free members), the forum makes less money. That's basic advertising and marketing. I'm sorry if I'm contributing to this thread going off track. /rant.

It really grinds my gears when people let their dog poop in public places and they don't pick it up. Of all people, for some reason I am always the one who steps in it.

When the Scrap Room membership gets distorted.

Nobody has to upgrade if they don't want to, we will always remain a forum that's free to join, post, read, network etc.

If jane or joe don't want the benefits of a Scrap Room membership, no big deal. If they do but don't have the funds, that's fine too the option is there when you're ready.

There's a hell of a lot of value on this forum free for anybody to read, even guests. Not just the registered members who don't have an upgraded membership.

Some people upgrade to support us and help keep us moving forward, others upgrade for the benefits and ideas.

Does it help support the site? Yes. Is it expensive and time consuming to run this site? Yes. Does it get more expensive as this forum grows with more content, members and resources? Yes. Are we going to give you a hard time for not paying for a membership? No.

It is expensive, stressful and time consuming running this place, but that's the risk we took when we decided to make it happen and dedicated ourselves to making it the best it can be. Our free members have contributed and helped mold this forum to what it is today equally as much as the paid members have.

If anything the 'sponges' and 'lurkers' are the guests who come here all the time and never even register at all

I would add to that by saying that the lurkers don't really get the full benefit due to the fact that aren't engaged in the forum discussions anyway. People who are actively engaged in the discussions are more likely to get help and get their questions answered than those who don't.

    Now, what grinds my gears:

People who do not discipline or correct their children. Then by the time they become teenagers, they are running the household. They tell their parents to "F-off" and get away with it (amongst many other things) only for the parent to say, "He's just so out of control. I don't know what to do with him."

When they end up on a talk show saying, "I'm afraid of my out of control teenager" because they fear child protective services, that really grinds my gears.

Reality shows, any and all. They grind my gears right into dust.

Talking about the dumbing down of America...You can thank reality tv and the Kardashians...

Sirscrapalot - Not a fan of 'reality' tv...as most of it isn't based in reality.

What grinds my gears and pisses me off is having two competing threads asking me what either:
    A.). Grinds my gears
    Or
    B.) Pisses me off.

Playing solitaire and getting "stuck" knowing that the few remaining cards that I need to win are in a stack that's covered by the 3 of spades. That really grinds my gears.
