USPS Large Flate Rate Box for shipping escrap

Okay, so I am always seeing people saying they use USPS Large Flate Rate Boxes for shipping upwards of 70lbs of escrap.



I have Large Flate Rate boxes from usps, but to be honest, I don't see this thing holding 70lbs of anything, especially stuff like motherboards.

Am I missing something?

they hold 70 pounds but you have to cover it 100% with shipping tape on all 3 directions of the box if you want it to hold, or invest in some strapping tape

i just loaded one up with ceramic cpus its right at 60 pounds

they will not hold 70 pounds of boards

Yeah, that much, I have definitely figured out for sure.

Guess, I will be getting a normal box for everything, because all the stuff I have, wont fit into any of the flat rate boxes, etc.

well on escrap they are definetly worth it for ram, hard drives and cpus. I think just regular parcel post is best for boards. Fedex is still the cheapest and best for shipping boards/large items/over 70 pounds in my opinion.

I used a flat rate box for shipping CD boards, ram, finger cards, etc. and that $15 box was worth $185. from my buyer. A good investment.

So from my understanding (my brain is trying to shut down for sleep lol), from what you 2 are saying, is that USPS is good for some stuff, but I need to be focusing towards FEDEX when it mainly comes to ewaste like motherboards, and such like that.

I will give a shot tomorrow morning on opening an account with them again. Thanks guys...I appreciate it. I have a good amount of stuff I want to ship off, but these boxes just wont cut it that I have now.

I used a big ?? box and put in m'boards and fingercards, and packed the small stuff in and around the big boards. Weighed in at 43 lb. All the smaller stuff can be packed in and around the bigger items, I just throw them into a grocery plastic bag to keep them together so they don't have to fish all over the box for one kind of item.

yes,

I did a comparison for a box 16x16x16 weighing 55 lbs on the three services I could think of -- USPS, UPS, and FedEx. It turned out that FedEx was cheapest for using my own box. It's easy to do, just time consuming. By knowing your stats and using the same numbers on all three services, you can easily figure out which way to go.

fedex is usually the lowest, i have discounts with usps and fedex so those are the only 2 i check

I pay $4.90 to ship a flat rate envelope and that includes delivery confirmation. The standard rate if bought online on the usps website is $5.10. And $5.30 if you pay for it at the post office.

a box that holds 70 lbs of sand won't necessarily hold 70 lbs of Styrofoam.

That isnt the issue....issue is finding the box that I can ship all the material in.

Did you use Ewasted's label or did you take care of the shiping youself? I have found using his labels and fedex pick up from my front porch cheaper than me taking the box to a shiping store and paying myself directly.

The cost per pound adveraged about $0.50-$0.55. Of course pallet shiping has been much cheaper and worth asking Ewasted for prices. Mike.
