omg I argue with people all the time about this when people say oh its not worth my time to pick it up. if your making more than $28hr which a lot of people don't even if I do I still pick them up because its the same amount of time worth it in a normal 8hr shift if you figure at least a penny a second for us young people that's $288 even old timers taking 3seconds that still $96 or $12hr so if you say its not worth your time then your not wanting easy money. sure were not picking up this many pennys people say, so I say back ok fine then lets say like I do see 1 each day that's easy 1 a day for 55yrs to retirement putting it in the bank at current crap interest rates that's about $20,075 to add to your retirement so still think its not worth your time. do the math yourself is what my teachers taught me but people also have paid me to pick up there copper to but in the scrap sense lol

i use to pick up every penny but now will only bend down for them if many are in the same spot. although it does depend how much cash i have.
i am more likely to pick up 1 penny if i am low on money.

I don't, not worth the effort. if I see a penny and it looks old (Wheet penny or earlier) then I will take it mostly because I used to collect coins as a kid. When I get change I dump pennies into a large glass jar and the silver coins into a different one where they eventually get rolled up and taken to the bank. Rolling up $20 in pennies takes a while and is bulky to carry around.

How often do you spot a penny on the ground anyway? if you found a penny every day for a year you have barely enough for a crappy happy meal at McDonalds (once you roll them and take them to the bank because NOBODY is going to count 365 loose pennies at a store).

That reminds me of a couple of silver quarters I got in change one time. Was at a resort in Cabo San Lucas sitting at the bar. Of course drinks were priced so you get a little change back with an expectation that you'll drop the change in the tip jar. The bartender plopped down my 50 cents change on the bar. I heard that distinct TING! TING! so I immediately dug 2 quarters out of my pocket and used them to tip with.

I pick up EVERY penny. Can't pass up free money. I work cutting grass all over town so I get to cover a lot of area most days. I go to work with empty pockets and come home just-a-jinglin!, tossin coins into their respective Kentwood jugs

I figured out that a peice of copper the size of a NZ 2cent coin, is worth NZ$0.02 cents.
Since the copper backing on a transistor is about the size of a NZ 1 cent coin, it must be worth NZ 1cent. (or US$0.0083 cents) haha

I picked up ten pennies the other day someone left them on a parking meter which doesn't take pennies anymore. I always sort the pre 82s copper cents, also pick up AL cans and they are almost worth a penny. Last load was 65lbsof cans

I pick up pennies. Have found some really old ones. I always think of picking up pennies as treasure. In 1985 I found 17 silver dollars after a hard rain had eroded an old CC trail.
