Rolling up $20 in pennies takes a while and is bulky to carry around.

How often do you spot a penny on the ground anyway? if you found a penny every day for a year you have barely enough for a crappy happy meal at McDonalds (once you roll them and take them to the bank because NOBODY is going to count 365 loose pennies at a store).
Have you ever worked in retail? It does happen

...I can just take my jar full into my credit union and dump them in their coin counter for free. Buys some gas... or toilet paper... or some days just a taco... but hey I'll take free money any day.

I pick up any and all pennies, and drop them into one of two containers: my zinc jar (post 1982), and the copper penny bin (coppers now worth three cents each). I weigh the 1982 ones on my gram scale to see if they are copper or zinc.

I roll and spend the zinc ones (retail stores take rolled change just fine). I keep the coppers.

I've found three silver dimes here and there, but no silver quarters yet. I always look, though.

And, as Scott said, I feel a rush of happiness with every coin I find.
