That's kind of where I think I'm heading. I'm gonna give the adjuster a chance to make it right, but I'm not gonna play the game for too long before I go that direction. Had a local builder that I went to school with many moons ago look at it today to see if it could be saved, he said it's a bulldozer. Talked to a local agent (not mine in this case, but a guy that I grew up with who also happens to be a firefighter that responded to the call), he's gonna help me out the best that he can in dealing with the adjuster. He told me what I already knew, that I was underinsured, but that with my connections in the construction game, I could probably get everything taken care of for my policy limits. To me it feels like the adjuster is prepping me for a number less than my limits.
I'll be ok, regardless. It's gonna put a severe cramp on my budding
e-waste business, but it's not the end of the world. My heart aches for my renters, they didn't have any rental insurance, and lost everything. We are from a great community that rallies when needed, and I think they will be ok.
