Needs to be said twice...be safe out there when dealing with CL or however you sell your items if in person. Situation don't seem right...get out..no profit is worth being robbed, hurt, etc.
Sirscrapalot - Brings two dogs and lets others know where he's going when out on a CL run.
ya they had on here last week. a guy advertised a lap top. when the buyer showed up the seller tried to rob him. turns out the buyer was a sheriffs deputy. the sellers funeral was last week some time.
"anyone who thinks scrappin is easy money ain't doin it right!"
Lot's of red flags there.
Often times I will leave a Bing Map on the computer screen for the wife to see.

"Give them enough so they can do something with it, but not too much that they won't do nothing."
darned website sales tactics. There's been holes in these approaches from the start. Ebay and Paypal spent years trying to convince the public how "safe" it was to order online, only to have scores there get duped, but at least the majority did relatively well.
Then along comes Craigslist and attempts to convince the public how you'll get robbed if you want it shipped, and send them money in any form. "Noooo! Don't send money, they'll rob you! meet em in a parking lot instead" yeah, right!
It all comes down to watching your step in any situation, and staying aware of the schemes people use to gain advantage of others, and steer clear of red flags
Meet them in the parking lot of the police station.
Ya gotta love some people's mentality...I picked up an Xbox 360 last week from a guy who posted it for $20. Considering what they go for, I figured something was wrong with it. He wasn't including the power cord or AV, but I got him to throw it in. His original listing stated it worked, but the disk drive was jammed up. I got it home, powered it on, and sure enough it was a red ring. I found a couple good tutorials on fixing them, so I'll still be able to flip it for 100 once its fixed, but as the old saying goes buyer beware....
Been a rash of Craigslist robberies here in Indianapolis too.
I don't do much on CL, but when I do I meet in a public place and tuck my shirt in so that the Springfield XD9 that is usually concealed is loud and proud.
Situational awareness will keep you out of trouble 95% of the time....but you just can't anticipate somebody popping out of a trunk with their heater trained on you!
