So, I have a HP Pavilion dv7 listed on
ebay for $165. To my knowledge, the powerboard needs replacing which is about $20 or so, and working laptops of this kind, easily sell for $200+
So, I get this guy asking me how I know the powerboard is what it is wrong, and the most he pay is $130.
I tell him, and tell him that $165 to me is fair, and the lowest I would possibly go is $150 and explain why.
Then he comes back and asks if he buys it for $150, and it is something other than the powerboard, would I do a return?
Below, is my response....I am not sure if I want to leave him open to buy it, or block him and avoid a big possible headache.
I appreciate the offer, but when I cant verify something working 100%, is why I list the items as for parts or not working, so people dont expect to much from it, when buying the items.
I agree with you, that it may or may not be the powerboard. For all I know, it could even been the power cord that I used to test it with, might not have been the right voltage, and nothing be wrong with the laptop.
Only way I really do returns, is if the items arrive in a way other than what I ship them as. Like if during shipping a box fell on it and cracked the screen, etc.
This is why I describe the items best way possible and include pictures to document all damages, and list any known issues that I am familiar with, so people know exactly what they are getting, and there is no unexpected surprises. Most laptops, like cell phones, people buy them from me for their parts.
If it ends up not selling, it will just be shipped off in a pile of other laptops to an ewaste buyer.
My apologies if I come off as a jerk or anything. Not my intentions.
