Lately when I take trips to the yards I notice the same items again and again. I was just wondering what are the items you always notice? Mine are umbrellas and bike parts (specifically kick stands).

Ok, for me it's literally anything metal. Right now, it's mostly lawn equipment and fans. I don't really have a most common thing that I scrap because I will scrap anything. Yesterday I picked up some stainless steel exhaust pieces and a Toyota shock system (I should be picking up more from this guy) and tomorrow I have to try and stuff a full sized water heater in a Prius V. That will be interesting...

I scrap anything but mostly get calls for refrigerators and TV's. Contacts include mostly car parts.

I scrap a wide variety, check out my thread tater strikes again, but anyhow I would say either pickups or farm equipment. I live in a rural area so everything around here is tied to agriculture somehow.

In order:
Mixed metal (yard & garage clean ups - who knows how most of it got there)
Water tanks (hot water & pressure tanks)
Refrigerators
Gutters
Microwaves
Everything else
Fridges or BBQ's.
I have no issue with either. I like cast Aluminumumum and Fridges are bulky.

Guy in front of me yesterday was dragging in a old F250 4 x 4 on a tow bar with a little Ford Ranger...thought about asking if he was from Kansas and is his name Tater, but I knew better. If it was Tater he would have been driving an old Chevy unless he was planning on leaving both.

computers vcr's tv's and car parts. Whenever i do a pickup for a computer and i get to talking with the customer a vcr always magically appears 2 mins later and then the old tv comes out followed by a trip to the garage for some random car parts. I have had this happen so many times it's disturbing. But i like disturbing it's profitable!

During the 3 week run of Spring Clean Up (week 2) I have scrapped over 20 bikes but this one is a keeper.
And then there are the grills...Here's the scrap section.

It's grill season around here. I'm getting more of them than vacuums right now! I'm happy that cast aluminum has bumped up a bit, lately.
As a matter of fact, my biggest "home run" curbco pick was just last week, a huge stainless grill. It's all real, non-magnetic stainless, made-in-America, and had to be over well 300 pounds probably more. It's from Frontgate catalog, and I can't find the exact model on there, but it had to have been at least 2 grand when it was new. I dropped it off at my parent's house to give to my father, since he's a grilling nut. He checked it out and said that it looked like it had been used a couple of times and just left to the weather. The stainless burner rails were in amazingly good condition, as were all the other components. The only thing wrong with it was the igniter, which is always the first thing to crap out on a grill anyways. He was quite excited that I gave it to him.
