I found a large, heavy Sentry safe in the alley. It has a keypad instead of a dial. How can I bust it open? Also, can a safe be scrapped?

I do not know about other brands, but I have recovered combination for SentrySafe brand safes. You get a form that they provide to you fill it out, and have it notarized. Send that in, and the charge is $15-20 for combination or key..can't remember exactly how much it costs.
I have opened up 4 safes this way. The contents of them had covered the costs of the notary and combination fee. Then, I sell the safe.
I only found one and it was open with the door off. Heavy and I put it in with my steel.
Some are filled with concrete.

The yards around here dont take them. My buddy snuck one in once with his shred. The yard guy remembered him and when he went back the next time they deducted 100 lbs from his load. He learned the hard way
I do not believe there are any safes without concrete.

I beat it open with a claw hammer. Took 15 minutes. Empty.
I've only ever found a couple and they were already opened.
i also didn't know they had cement in them but that would make sense as the fire retardant.
I have found@least ten most were filled with concrete always best to check huge deduction@my yard they usually pick them up with the crane and drop it if concrete comes out you're busted
If you find one that is open and still in good shape a locksmith should be able to reset the combo for a minimal charge.

the keypad safes can be opened by contacting the manufacturer if you atleast know the model number of the safe, there is usually a reset code they can provide so you can open it without destroying it, some of them you can remove/open the outside keypad part to gain access to a reset button

I recently picked up one of these little Sentry safes, about 1 foot cubed, give or take a bit. Electric keypad, heavy as heck for its size. Turns out it was empty, but it makes a nice little "fire-safe" cabinet for documents. I'm not concerned about locking it.
For some reason, I feel reluctant to tell exactly how I popped it open, but I will say it's disturbingly easy and fast. Bang that keypad off, and use your eyes.
About a week ago I had a customer that owned a hotel scrap about 80 electronic keypad safes (the kind that bolt to the wall in a hotel). Out of the 80 I pulled out 50 that were in perfect working order. These things weigh about 40 lbs. each and don't have any concrete in them. It looks like they have some sort of phone jack on it to unlock them if you don't have the code. This makes sense, because coming from a hotel I am sure they run into that problem all the time.
If anyone on here that brings a load of scrap into my yard I will send you home with one. Limited supply.
KZ..see me next time you are in, I have one for you.
