An you thought your day was bad...city demolishes wrong house..

Came across this article while again taking some time to do some reading..Amusing and sad at the same time. I don't want to be the city or company responsible for this eff up.

Oops! City Demolishes Wrong Vacant House | AOL Real Estate

This happened in Detroit also, they touch on that story in the article.

we used to do this when I workedfor the city, but we would have code enforcement there, the fire department and all utility companies before I ever turned the key to the excavator.

on a related note one of the wrecker yards I buy from multiple wrecker services use the same boneyard, probably 100 cars in there, suppose to be blue circles painted on thewindows to all the cars im suppose to pick up, one time they painted a circle on the wrong car, lucky it wasn't on my list and I called to make sure

We had a similar problem a few years ago. One of our crew leaders tore down the right house, but also took down the ramshackle shed "in the back yard". It turned out to be the lawnmower shed for the house that was behind that one facing the other street. That was nothing that a brand new metal shed wouldn't fix.

Another odd one. After getting hurricane damage, a home on the beach in Panama City FL was scheduled for demolition. I went down to measure it to bid, but couldn't find it. Turns out it was STOLEN by a debris removal company that was getting paid by the ton for whatever they turned in to the landfill. Watch your car and hang on to your pets, they were getting everything that wasn't nailed down.....and some that was.

I spotted the culprit today on the SH75/I30 interchange here in the DFW metro.
