    Thumbs up Another Scrapper

I was driving behind a guy who had 2 fridge's in his truck and something else.. he went down the same road where I live then he turned.. on another day I seen the same guy drive on my block and picked up some scrap small stuff from my neighbor whom just put out while I was scrapping under my carport LOL.. same guy came around a few days later ( while I was scrapping under carport) and picked up a tiny vaccume from the same spot LOL.. I thought I should go tell him hey bud this is my territory then I said to myself im not selfish good for him he found something right in front of my blind eyes LOL.. Next time I see him ill make contact and see if we can work a deal of a trade up something he doesn't scrap for something I don't scrap..

I usually just chat them up, ask them how they're doing, give them my card & ask for theirs. To this day not one I've talked to had a card. But, then again, not a one that I've given a card to has called & asked me for help on a job that was too big for them......... YET!

A few I have contacted and left a card have brought me computers. It hasn't been a lot of business but better than none. Mike.

when i see other scrappers i try and talk to them, i always hand them a card and tell them i'll pay better then the local wreckers for complete computers and servers. I've meet a couple guys that prefer to specialize in one thing or another....good networking. not that i've ever hooked anyone else up yet with a load but...i just like to know who's playin the game. I've only been threatened buy one guy and i seen him at the yard last week and he had a small trailer full of towers, not striped!!!! i was pissed off he had that load, but it was good to know he doesn't have any e waste contacts besides local yards. threat leveled lowered lol time to up my advertising again.

most other scrappers see another scrapper and they get pissed off and race off to another part of town....i drive behind these guys every night and still fill my truck.

I have seen a lot of posts like this, and I got to say that it does my heart well when I read that people want to interact on a friendly basis rather than the other options.

But it also makes me chuckle a little. I hope what I say is taken in the spirit of how I mean it, and not offensive to anyone, if it is let me know and I'll delete it.

In places where tribes still exist, specially when they existed as nomadic people. When they come into contact with each other for the first time, they often observe each other to see how they behave, if they are overly aggressive or friendly, what they were after and if it was a threat to their existence, etc.

When scrappers see each other driving down the street or looking for scrap in the same area, it seems they behave in a similar way, observing, identifying, checking for friendly or aggressive behavior then making contact.

I think refiners, matter of fact any business owner would act in a similar way. I recently checked out a location that collects for a refiner who is out of state to see what it was like, and how they might affect my own business, if they were friendly, or maybe if I could do business with them refining harder to refine material, etc.

Anyway, just thought I would comment as I think this often
