    New eBay twist

I'm buying computer scrap and won an auction for some chips last night. Went to pay for them through PayPal (only payment option he listed). Payment didn't go through and shown as "processing". Went into my PayPal account and the payment has been made. Shows all his information, etc. But he doesn't have a PayPal account set up.

If the seller is a member here (Dale T....), please contact me and set up a PayPal account. Your payment is waiting.

People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

A friend of mine just had this happen in reverse. He had a PayPal account set up and had an eBay account, but didn't know that he had to have them associated. If I were you, I'd send the seller a note suggesting that he check to see if this was the case.

I've sent two messages through Ebay (different places) and one from my email (I could get his email address from the PayPal payment). For him, the bigger problem is that he is selling other stuff through Ebay with the PayPal only payment option. Who knows how many he's already had not go through. Member since this Sept 11th.

Bear... I believe the real term is "linked". I just couldn't think of it at the time. You can get PayPal payments without eBay and you can also have your eBay buyers pay with PayPal even if the accounts aren't linked. I think the problem comes in when you try to use the click through checkout in eBay instead of a PayPal email invoice. I'm really not sure why this causes issues, but my buddy got his fixed by "linking" his PayPal and eBay accounts. Maybe an e8ay expert who knows more than me will kick in some thoughts on this.
