Burn it some more...I hold burned hands/fingers in front of the air coming out of the pellet stove. Picks off the last of those pesky nerves sending pain signals
That's what all of my Oakie grandparents (both sides) did for burns. I actually don't know why it works and if it's good or not, but it stops the pain at least. Lots of things they used for quick treatment...pearl oil (kerosene) for cuts and scrapes, listerine for dandruff...
My grandpa said he almost cut off his big toe while chopping wood one day. His mom dipped his foot into kerosene and wrapped it up, and it healed up nicely he said.

You can go to Walmart or a drug store and get some Solarcaine in a spray can which contains Lidocaine (pain releiver) that works well. Runs about 5-7 bucks, spray it on, and cover it up.

Yeah, aloe works good for me. It will feel better when it quits hurting.

Time...
I burned 3 fingers badly over the summer. NEVER GRAB lawnmower parts after the engine has been running. I actually grabbed a part that was rattling uncontrollably on the side without thinking while I was mowing. I actually couldn't hear and lost my balance and almost vomited the pain was so bad. The pain was really bad all day and eventually went away the next day or two.
DONT POP the blisters it can cause infection. Unless its 3rd degree burns ( skin turned black) you will be fine. It sucks...
I almost never take medication for anything. Nothing wrong with taking some advil it will help.

I've always used just cold water, with ice cubes in it. Still remember when we got our first electric stove, many moons ago. Turned an element on and couldn't tell if it was getting hot, so I put my finger on it....d'oh! Sticking that blistered finger in a cup of water with ice in it worked wonders.
Others have suggested cold compresses-same idea, but have to keep them cold. Not sure about NA's cold vinegar...interesting. Cold beer would work, too, but you have to put your burnt stuff into it, not drink it!! The alcohol in the beer would make the burn sting if the skin was broken, though.
Jon.
I have burnt the skin off the back of both hands, first with a gas torch & then with hot fat in 2 incidents. There is no scaring at all.
This IS what you should do.
1 st, run cold water over the burn untill it stops hurting. And I mean UNTILL it stops hurting. It might take hours, it did for me.
It only needs a trickle but relise that you are probably going to get hypothermia from the cold water, so get others to help you. Yah gonna need to go to the toilet, food etc too, so get it sorted out.
Get someone to buy a tube of 'Silvadene' (Silver sulfadiazine), some medical gauze & bandage.
Keep someone with you, yah don't need sightseers either.
Don't pop the blisters, its the bodys last defence. Any disruption to the skin under the blister WILL cause a scar & will double or triple the amount of time before its healed.
Don't use normal Dettol ointment etc, only use the stuff with Silver in it. (Ironic that the Silver we recycle gets used to fix us back up)
Once the hurt has gone, and that will happen. It took 2+ hours the first time (gas torch) & then I was needed to do some deliverlys so I stuck my hand out the trucks window to cool it as I drove around.
Thankfully it happened on a friday, last work day of the week.
At that time the burn didn't look like much. But later on that night the blister came up & the burn looked real bad/blueish under a floresent light.
At the Docs on Monday they showed me what to do & I had to come in every day to get it checked & redressed.
Basicly, spatula the silverzeen 1/8th inch or thicker over the whole burn. Soak the gauze in it too & lay that over the burn, several layers.
Then bandage over that. Never knock or disrupt the wound, keep your hand up around shoulder level so it won't swell up more then needed.
Next day remove the bandage & check the burn. Keep the blister covered with silverzeen as before. It'll need more silverzeen & gauze.
Do that for 5 days at least. By then the blister will go down a bit, the skin under the blister will reform as top layer skin. But it HAS to have the protection of the blister & silverzeen still.
By day 6-7 the blister will be healed a lot & will probably split a bit. Keep that silverzeen layer real thick.
You will notice the difference of the blister skin as it decides to leave yah hand & the under skin will form into real top layer skin.
By then its about time to really carefully cut away the blister skin as it needs/decides to go.
Don't leave the blister skin too long as it can reconnect with your new top layer of skin & cause scarring. Same with upsetting the new layer of skin, keep it protected with silverzeen.
Even the smallest upset to the skin will cause scarring.
Now yah up to the ten day plus & its healed up real good. Still, keep it carefull & don't use/knock the burn. Keep the bandage on if you want or its needs it.
By two weeks its healed & the brand new top layer of skin will be soooo delecat and like baby skin, a slight touch to it will be noticable.
-------------
All that, due to our healthcare system, cost me nothing for the accident that happened at work. I just had to go in to the Doc every day for a week.
Work pays accident costs as a % of our wage to the goverment, or a insurance company, which pays the medical costs.
I was holding the gas torch in my left hand & the hose caught on the bench edge, then slipped off, which twisted the torch flame across the back of my right hand.
-------
The hot fat accident that happened at home (recreating the 'McDonalds experience'), cost me NZ$50 (Us$45) for the first visit & free after that.
I'd heated up the fat in a pot & chucked in the frozen chips without relising it'd boil over. When it did, I pulled the pot back o the over flowing fat would not land on the element & catch fire. When the pot stopped moving, the boiling fat flowed out of the pot onto my hand.
safer to go to Mcd's......
