    I admit it: I'm a wimp

Its 3am and I can't go back to sleep. Thought I would go out and break something, changed my mind after reading the thermometer. 36 degrees here tonight. I know I have no room to complain with the layer of ice over the rest of the country. So there you have it: IM A WIMP.

This is what separates the men from the boys...warm coat, and layers!

Just teasing ya Cajun. I can't sleep a lot so I've adapted to working in all the temps I get here on my sandbar. For example..an this will make Sledge cackle in glee...it's 35 here right now. lol. Don't get to happy Sledge, it'll be warming back up at the end of the week!

If you work outside, layer up, use work gloves with some hand warmers. I got a shop below the house(Its on stilts, the house..not the shop..) but it's not heated other then the heater I put in there some times. I work outside an inside tho.

Getcha some good cold weather gear that you can work in, an times like this won't bother ya.

It was 5 above F this morning when I went to the road to get the paper in long shirt sleeves. Not that I'd stay out in it very long but I was surprised that it didn't seem all that cold. I know what you mean, NHscrapman. I moved here from Iowa 22 years ago. I went back last Sept (delayed trip two months specifically to avoid the heat) and still had a hard time dealing with the heat even with central air conditioning.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

It's been unusually cold here in Sacramento too. 28 right now. If it was much colder here, everyone's houses would be flooding from frozen and burst pipes!

If it was not for the cold, I would not have an excuse to stay inside and read all the threads on SMF. Woke up to -20 with wind chill of -40. All of the machinery is frozen, jelled, or both. Dogs refused to go outside. Fire place is burning, computer on, and remodeling on the agenda. Yesterday it got into the mid teens, a heat wave. Even changed the oil on my truck.

    Sir,

When we think we have it bad, somebody is always worse off. You put a little warmth in my step. Can you imagine the number of layers that would be required to stay warm?

My dogs are smarter than I am. If they do not want to go out, I know the machinery will not fire up. My grandfather had a saying that sums it up - Horse sense is what a horse has that keeps him from betting on people. Sorry I do not know who first said it or I would give them credit. Maybe Yogi.

I bring a lot of my smaller stuff into the basement to work on. I do have a heater in the garage, but it is way underpowered for that area. Only 1500 Watts. Truck said -16 this morning when taking in some transformers(Alum wire).

[QUOTE=Sirscrapalot;177469]This is what separates the men from the boys...warm coat, and layers!

I made it through the winter last year with a long sleeve blue jean shirt. I actually don't remember it getting below 40 around here last year. Just when I think I have her figured out, Mother nature throws a curve my way.
