When did they change the name? I'll have to get on to em about that. haha
some interesting facts on it, and some not so much, several of the end comments were too
Indian Reservation (The Lament of the Cherokee Reservation Indian) by Raiders Songfacts
Still think it's better made in USA, whether you can get it cheaper or faster or tax free or what.
Looking for staples not long ago for a T50 stapler, the China brand(whatever brand it was) with 1500 staples, or 1250 Arrow staples made in USA for roughly the same price, I chose the USA ; )
That list goes on and on
Good thread bear I had to put on bruce springsteen born in the usa! I use penzy spices far as I know they made here least I hope so or ill start making my own.
Back in my accounting days, I was auditing Scientific America (cable box manufacture) 99.5% of the manufacturing was in Mexico. 4 screws we left out so when the units got to the US they were assembled and a big "assembled in The US" sticker was slapped on it.
I bought a Czech republic bearing today for $1200. I wanted a Kaman but it was double. It goes to our primary granulator and are shut down until fixed. (Merry Christmas right!) I do what I can for local and quality but sometimes it is not possible. Sometimes you just have to do the best you can and get it done!
For small efficient and productive home gardening I like Mel Bartholimual sp "Square foot gardening"
That's cool Foam, I was doing square foot gardening from the start, being my garden spaces were very limited, and I wanted to plant some of everything. I never really measured, still don't really, just kinda eyeball it and take off. I'm sure theirs is much better organized, but I just enjoy it
im buying fuel pumps online for $40 and selling them on craigslist for $100 all day long, and im still $100 lower than the local auto parts stores
I buy and sell all types of scrap and escrap. I buy specialty and hard to sell escrap. I buy resale items. PM me or contact me at jghilino@hotmail.com
I AM ACTIVELY BUYING ESCRAP OF ALL TYPES. BOARDS, RAM, CPUS AND MUCH MORE
shanghai, but the auto parts stores are buying from my supplier also and selling at 500%+ markup
They're really not a manufacturer, they are a distributor, big difference. I really see no reason not hiring those who are here legally, i.e. W/ work visas and exchange students.
A distributor doesn't manufacture or produce anything, they merely package and distribute. Blending and packaging should not give them rights to claim the products they neither make or produce in USA to be labeled as "Made in USA"
A rather lengthy, but informative read on the subject can be found at Topix, a thread right in the Chesapeake section of their forum
Contacting Greenbrier International - Topix
It appears everything they distribute and sell comes from China
My father has been going on and on about this newer steel coming back from overseas being cheap and weak and full of junk metal.
on cars it's evident I watched his truck rust out in 3 years and this is a man who is meticulous with his vehicle. welded a plate onto both sides of the frame rail both rails. 1 year later it was off to the scrap yard. you should have seen the looks going into the yard with a 4 year old vehicle on the trailer.
Don't worry we stripped it out before it went
There ain't nothing wrong with an honest days work. Anyone who says otherwise is a fool.- Old Man
NH, ...what truck was that? ...I say truck because I can't think of a car that is not unibody nowadays.
I am also disapointed that my resent aquisition of "Milwaukee" cordless tools were made in China and not the US as my trusty corded sawzall was.
Industrial companies here once had entire departments totally dedicated to the purpose of making their products better, many of which sold incredible amounts of their products overseas. Now that most of the industrial giants are overseas, and sell incredible amounts of their products to us, I believe the departments for testing have also shifted, shifted to ones searching for ways to make their products not only cheaper(although not at reduced prices), but also for ways to have their products fall apart faster ; )
I once presumed when the package stated "for USA" it was due to our higher standards here, but no longer am thinking it has anything to do with higher standards
I've been meaning to update this thread for quite some time.
After all my searches I never found whether Dollar Tree spices were in fact grown in USA, although they do state Made In USA on the label, and that's still better (in my book anyway) than one which says nothing at all about packaging or product origin. Their spices also (once again, to me anyway) have a better and more distinct flavor, including the black pepper, also labeled "Made In USA", although most all black pepper is grown in other countries, even being ground (I bought the coarse grind) in USA leaves some small hopes it won't be full of foreign matter.
I've since stopped buying almost any spices, seasonings, or sauces from wmart, as best as I can see, none of it is labeled for origin. I'm finding the majority of smaller store(save-a-lot is my only other alternative, but there's others in other areas) products to be mostly USA, or at least from North or Latin America.
For those who grow their own, one site I've found promising is the Chile Pepper Institute at New Mexico State University. Product Category - The Chile Pepper Institute Their seeds are $6 for generally 30 seeds(includes postage/shipping) which, as far as ordering seeds by mail goes, isn't an outrageous price. Also, if you properly care for them, and plant 10 per year, that's a 3 year supply, and if you save seeds from the best plants, they will last you indefinitely.

Careful relying on a site like Topix for facts. Their news side is ok, but the forum side is a true cluster pluck. Yea, it can be useful, but in my experience, most the stuff on topix is just people starting drama, trolling, or just being general idiots. lol.
That's funny that Greenbrier Int'l is right there in Chesapeake, Va. I ain't touching the import workers, I got mixed feelings an I don't need a vacation not my own choosing.

Edit: I'm quite familiar with Topix, did you miss in my post where I said I visit their forums cause they amuse me? I was expressing my amazement that I'd been near Greenbrier an didn't even know it. oh an Topix forum is nothing like this one, an if it is, we're hiding all the trolls, children playing games, an gossip mongers. Is that in a hidden section of this forum?
But hey, as usual of late, we'll agree to disagree.
Carry on.
