    Michigan Weather Ruins Everything

I just got my friends 94 F150 to do some body work to. It was in a low speed head on with a Chevy. A garage quoted him $2000 in work so he brought it to me because hes fine with junkyard parts as long as they look good so i quoted him $500 for parts + labor.

Yesterday morning i decided to go look for parts. All i needed was a fender, grille, headlight, turn signal, headlight trim, bumper, and core support. Within a couple hours, i found everything. I left the bumper because i was going to come back today. I spent 5 hours looking for a core support that wasnt rusted out so there goes over half of my daylight. I go back home without it and realize we can just work without it. His core support had snapped but i was able to move it around a little and hes fine with that. Anyways, i go to start taking off the broken parts and realize all the plastic mounts for the grille, headlights, etc. is broken or completely missing and its too late to go back to the yards. I thought id just go get the parts today. WRONG. Were getting between 5 and 8 inches of snow right now and it started around midnight. I have been doing all the work in my driveway. Now i have to drive to the yard 10 miles away, lay in the snow to pull the bumper, then come back and lay in more snow to put it on. Thank you Michigan weather. I really appreciate this

Sorry if it doesnt make sense or im just rambling on. A little tired, stressed, and cold. Plus this seems like a great place to vent because some of you guys may understand this more than the people i know

I've laid in the snow plenty of times just trying to get our only car on the road. Makes me appreciate having a 30'x40' garage attached to the house. Just took a few years and work to get there.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

You're being one heck of a friend by doing this for him on the cheap....and in the cold. And I'll bet the plastic parts you are talking about salvaging at the yard will be one step offa being about as flexible as cast iron...

You'll have earned every penny he gives you for the job.

I always try to help people out as much as possible hoping it doesnt turn around and bite me in the ass. As far as the parts, theyre all pretty straight forward. My new problem is as i start removing more parts, im realizing there is quite a bit more damage. The truck is basically getting a whole new front end now

We just got a whole afternoon of rain and now back to snow, all the roads have slop 1 to 2 ft. out into the roadway that'll pull you in if you get close. I keep shoveling 2-3" of slop out from in front of the step. Don't want it freezing there.

Yeah. We only ended up with 3 inches. Then a bunch of rain (made for a great time at the junkyard that i never want to experience again). Now its snowing again. I guess i should have called it United States Weather instead. Seems like a few others are stuck in the same crap
