Amazes me how many people need to ingest, inhale or shoot themselves up with something just to feel better. Life without artificial stimulation is really great!

I have no tolerance for anyone impaired on anything, in school, at work or on the highway. I also don't think government or anybody should be regulating morality. When government spends millions on enforcement and incarceration of something that can be grown in the ground. This same useful crop has been approved by the majority for medical use. Government needs to change when they spend millions on prisons, with guards making more than school teachers. We have a country that needs rebuilding and a opportunity to generate revenue period.

Agreed on the driving while intoxicated. I was just saying I don't see an uptick in it. People already did it while illegal. As Big Burt said, its a natural herb, one isn't spiking it with pills, etc. Yes you hear about it being laced with LSD but...with it being sold in shops that's a helluva lest chance of it happening then buying it from some dude on a corner.
Take it out of the shadows an put it in the light. You solve the majority of the problems it causes.

I for 1 think there is something DEEPER going on here. Mary jane is just 1 more thing to impair our judgement. Its just 1 more way for the govt to be able to kill us off (via impurities added)...like with the food we eat n drugs doctors prescribe. Its just 1 more thing to take our attention away from our CREATOR. Its all a massive trick. Ofcourse it has some positive uses...its the negatives that will cause you to sell your soul! Seriously think about how the weed makes you feel (when you don't have prescription). More relaxed, your guard is down, courageous, wanna try new things, can think of reasons why you SHOULD do something that you might think is wrong if were sober. Weed is like alcohol....it impairs judgement. Believe it or not our judgement doesn't just effect us individually...it effects anyone we come in contact with. This is all my own opinion. I don't bash anyone for their use....not because its not politically correct to do so, but because Im,not your judge...nor are you mine.

I won't judge anyone for not using it, nor will I for using it. Long as your responsible about it, I don't care. If it keeps people from putting more of the pill crap in their body even better, or even the hard drugs..then it's a win in my book.
They drive stoned..throw the same book you do at drunk drivers.
Here's some fun facts...
Pot has been in use since 2700 bc..ancient Chinese, Greeks, an Romans used it for various ailments.
You can't die from pot use. Not counting driving on it of course.
It has accepted medical use..even if our government refuses to admit it.
It's also used to make hemp, which in turn is used in paper, clothing, an other goods of that nature.
The only chemicals, are what's used in the soil to grow it...which you don't need, as it grows just fine naturally outdoors..
Point is...it shouldn't be a class 1 drug in the same level as Cocaine, Heroin, Meth, Crack an many other drugs.
Use it responsibly, an if you don't partake of it..so be it!
till the day comes when it's legal or decriminalized...we'll keep seeing products like Spice/Herbal Incense, Bath salts, etc.Or laced Heroin with prescription drugs, that kill people with one or two hits. Which are far more harmful..then a joint, magic brownie, or a bong hit.
Oh an this is only so long cause..I added the random facts. My first one was huge! LOL
How's this for a lively conversation KZ? LOL. Just want to add..I respect an appreciate all views, whether for or against. It's a topic that needs discussed, cause..it's coming sooner or later. We should at lest talk reasonably about it.

Naw, man... you wouldn't lace your weed with LSD... at least not if you were gonna smoke it. The heat would destroy the LSD. Eating it, I suppose you could lace it with acid, but the weed intoxication component would be pretty much a waste of time by comparison to the intoxication of the LSD. May as well just put it on some blotter paper like it was meant to be. LOL
Anyway... I'd have to agree with SSA^: I don't judge anyone for what they do to themselves. I've done a smattering of just about every drug known to man, except for heroin, thankfully... cuz from what I know about myself and what I have heard about the horse, I'd ride that steed til it killed me & it wouldn't take long to do it. I'm not saying that to brag, I'm just telling you where I'm coming from. Nowadays all I partake of is a bit of beer and the occasional vodka, though. Maybe someday I'll pick up weed again... maybe not. I've found that it makes me lazy, and I can't afford that right now!!
Maybe after I hit that big megamillions I'll buy myself one ranch in Washington & one in Colorado & smoke all I want.

I first tried it more than twenty years ago at the suggestion of a close friend, I was a royal pain in the A$$ to all I encountered. She told me maybe it will help you "Chill-out", it did that for sure. I didn't like living on the edge of loosing a good job to drug testing, so I stopped, just like turning off a water faucet. Have not used marijuana in the last fifteen years, but I question a government that is blind to facts and common sense. A government that has violated our personal right to choose, has incarcerated more of it's citizens than any other country, refuses to study medical uses and insist that marijuana remain a class "A" drug. We are a great country with a government regulating and controlling it's citizens for the purposes of a few who seek power/wealth for themselves. This isn't a right or left issue, nor a democrat and republican issue. Here in California we were the first state to pass medical marijuana use, by a margin of greater than 80% of the people who voted. Yet we still have government from the feds. to local cities still trying to suppress what is legal. I guess they just don't like what the people wanted! Maybe it didn't fit their agenda! Maybe more laws and regulations for the "LAND OF THE FREE" is what our government desires for their needs. Maybe we need a larger criminal justice system, the American Dream!

I think that's my beef with it also Burt. This isn't just stoners, an such wanting it done. Last poll I saw, said the majority want it legal. So..unless stoners make up 58 percent of the voting population...that tells me more then just people who smoke, etc want it legal. It's now just kept illegal to keep fat pockets fat. Private prisons make money off this, it costs what for a prison to care for an inmate? 20 to 30k a year. They are being paid something to make that worthwhile an to keep building prisons. Funding would be lost to a lot of people if it it was legalized on a national level. Even the Justice Dept is saying they got bigger fish to fry. Tho, their still busting legal medical pot shops in Ca.
As I said before, there has been so much misinformation spread on it it's not even funny. Thing is tho...people have gotten smarter, they know bs when they hear it now. Back in the 80s with crack an heroin at an all time high, one could play on that fear factor, we just left the 60's an 70s along with Vietnam. I can't find the article online right now, but I was reading a couple weeks back, about a top DEA guy calling it a serious health issue. Please tell me how? Science has proven it's got an acceptable use in health. It's being used to treat folks with serious issues from Glaucoma, Cancer, Aids, to PTSD, Insomnia, Chronic pain, etc. I don't know about you folks..but I'd rather be told to smoke a joint, or eat a edible infused with THC, then risk a serious addiction to..I dunno...Oxycontin, Hydrocodine(however you spell it)Vicodin, Percocet, etc.
Did you know a 50mg Oxy goes from anywhere from 1.00 per mg to 2.00 per mg? Pain clinics have turned people into junkies with the pills. We have people hooked on pills, turning to Heroin to combat it. Seriously, WTF.
It's natural. Native Americans use Peyote, for their spiritual quests(Not all, but at the ones in AZ do.). Rasta's smoke the herb, for similar reasons. Auminer brought up laced weed, with LSD. Guess what it's not the only thing laced with it. Here's a link to for you..folks Fla. family hospitalized, pregnant mom in induced labor, after eating LSD-laced meat* - NY Daily News another link Cops: Florida Family Was Hospitalized After Eating LSD-Laced Steak Bought At Walmart | The Smoking Gun. There is always going to be someone doing something stupid...let's at lest minimize that. I'd rather my friends get their weed from a regulated shop, then some dude sitting at home who might decide to screw with them.
Fact is..many people use it. It's not just kids. I know people in their 50's, 60's, an 70's who either vape, or eat the edibles, or drink it infused in tea or other liquids. We have people, smart people, like Burt, and many, many more..who have to risk a job to use something responsibly. Yet..we have senators, an congressman getting high off pot, and other drugs!
Looks like I found that novel I wrote earlier...LOL..actually this is Still shorter. Ha ha!

^ That's a good'n there. ^
I haunt some internet forums where those topics are cussed & discussed at length, and occasionally chat with my circle of friends about those topics when we break bread together.
Funny thing: There's not likely a person alive out there with whom I don't hold at least some common ground ... and there's likely not a person alive I don't disagree with 100% on some aspect or another. I find that civil discourse makes me always examine my beliefs on a matter, and that's a healthy thing, I'll never hesitate to change my opinion when the available information warrants it. But I'll not change unless it does.
I come from a horticulture background, I owned an organic yard care company, we grow a lot of our own food and I love plants almost as much as metal!! I fully understand that most folks with a medical card just want to get high, the times in my life when I have smoked weed it was to get high. That being said, I fully understand the advances being made in medical marijuana and the loss to US agriculture that weed and hemps legal status causes especially in the traditionally tobacco regions. I find it pathetic that our medical system gives out opioid painkillers like candy. I had surgery this winter, I had my bicep moved as well as parts of my collarbone removed. I took a total of 3 vicoden after. Not because I'm tough but because I don't think using opium and heroin 3 times a day for 3 weeks is a smart thing to do. If weed was legal here I would of used that, probably that new strand that is high in the pain killer chemical and low in thc because I don't like being high! Drinking, smoking weed I could care less what anyone dose in their own homes. Obviously don't drive or use machinery while on it, hey it even says that on the opium bottle that nice doctor gave me.

I apologize for my rant, my last point is there are three plants within 30ft of my house that can get me high, probably more but I have only lived in this state a year so I'm still working on my plant ID.
The last time I checked, the average cost per prisoner was $50k per year in California (that's state ran not private). We have more women in prison than any place in the world. More than half there for non-violent drug offenses. In 1970 there were 5,600 women in prison in the entire nation. In 2004 we had 103,000 women in prison in this country, in 34 years did women go on a crime wave? Hell no they didn't, crime became big business in this country. If you can label someone as a addict, then add habitual criminal to that label, well now you have a commodity, a product that you can lock up over and over again. This year California well ship prisoners to private prisons out of state and have budgeted $20 million for this and plan to spend $50 million by 2016 (are prisoners a product?). I don't know anyone in prison personally. I do have a brother who needs medical marijuana to maintain his health (without it he can't eat solid foods - real simple). I know we have to change the direction this country is going and it will start when we decide to educate not incarcerate!
Some fun figures...,
Let's assume first, that every state if it was fully legal..has the same profit as Colorado...14 mil, counting the 2 mil in 2 taxes..
14,000,000 x 12 = 168,000,000 Colorado alone 1 year total
168,000,000 x 50 = 8400000000 Country wide, all 50 states.
8,400,000,000, So...8.4 billion...that's a lot of funds to put towars other things.
Mind you I'm being optmistic an assuming every state would experience similar sales. Of course some wouldn't, like the less populated Dakotas, an other similar type states. But places like..NY, Cali, Texas, an other places with a large population an big cities...
That's a lot of money to be going towards, schools, highway infrastructure, etc etc.
I'm by no means a math guru, an I'm sure my numbers are off, but you get the point.
Sirscrapalot - Would like to have that kinda money!
As long as we can get the workers out of White Castle! I agree SSA, let's spend it on something useful instead of prisons.
Laws need to be more consistent...i.e. Alcohol, tobacco and other toxins are legal so let's not pick and choose, let people make up there own mind or ban it all. With that being said when mind altering drugs are legal it makes it tough as a parent to convince kids when it's appropriate to use them. So many young folks start out experimenting and don't have the maturity to know when to say when. Yes it is illegal for people under 21 to use here but it is not stopping them and there's an up tick in use, and if you have every argued with a teenager you know how tough it can be to change their mind.
Anything in moderation but that moderation can change with age and the way I see it young folks have a lot of priorities to mind too before it's time to kick back.
THC over Opiates any day if needed medically as the side effects are easier on the body and could be as effective in most cases it would seem.
The longer you can keep a kid's mind growing and learning the better (not easy). There is no easy solutions, but there are better choices, starting with ability to determine one's own needs. Without over regulations and laws designed for beneficial needs of a few.
As the saying goes...it starts at home, good or bad. I'm a firm believer in being honest, an upfront when discussing issues with kids. The key here is to educate them on it. Of course I don't condone kids doing it. I'm also not naive enough to believe, kids will ever stop being kids, an will find whatever it is they want to try. The trick is to educate them. Give them the knowledge an hope they choose right. I would first start with the health issues in regards to smoking weed, under 21. Your brain is still developing, your body is still growing, etc etc.
Education is the key here. Just telling them it's bad for them won't work. Kids/teens are not stupid. They can pick up a book or access the internet as easily if not more then most of us. So lying to them like the Government does, won't work. I got two girl cousins, we had this talk, an the one about boys. The boys one was easy. Ol'Uncle Sirscrapalot has a shotgun, an will use it on any boy who comes calling an doesn't treat them right. The drug talk was harder..I tried to bs my way out of it, it didn't work. lol. But being not their parent, I could be more frank. I can only hope they use the knowledge right. Far as I know they've never tried it, or been offered drugs. They are going into High School now, an that will change at the first party, football game, etc.
I want them to know the dangers. Far as pot..I told'm if they tried it before they were 21, I'd tell their mom who'd whoop their butts. Heh. Far as other drugs, I let them know if the drugs didn't kill them, I would, along with whoever gave it to them. LOL. Drastic yes, but hopefully putting the fear of god into them will keep them from trying that hard crap. They are smart tho. So I hope they avoid those things. Again tho..I'm not naive, I know they'll have opportunities to try it. Peer Pressure is a mother fudger. They know the dangers of meth, crack, heroin, cocaine, etc. I showed them the results. Show a teen a picture of meth mouth, or a junkie in general..they get the hint. I can't find it now, but I'll look harder there is program or website out there that shows before an after shots of people on meth.
Kind of a guess the age thing..first one is someone pretty, young, an about 18. Second one, look like an old woman who ran with a biker gang. Same girl mind you. That was her at 19. Seriously looked 45 an lived a life of partying. Not cool.
So yea..in short. Educate, an hope they do the right thing.. I have friends who do drugs, hard an not. I have friends who don't. I'm older now an tend to hang out with those that don't, or just smoke their pot. I smoked it when I was younger. Let them know your there to ask questions an you won't get mad when they do. It's the number one reason kids don't talk to their parents. Afraid they will get angry, be disappointed, etc. It worked for me at lest...any choices I made, good or bad in regards to drugs were when I was 18, an older. Drinking? lol..I was quite young. I also stopped at 23 for a few years, due to a bleeding ulcer. I drink now, but totally in moderation.
I don't see a point on banning pot all around. Kids will get it either way, an to be honest..I'd rather they smoke the stuff from a regulated shop, then some idiot off the corner. Or doing something stupid like we(me an my friends) did, an drive into a inner city open air drug market. Never had issues, but i know how to carry myself, an act in that situation. Others I know have been robbed, beaten, or carjacked while up there.
21 an up is a good first step, along with a good size punishment for anyone caught selling it, or providing to those underage.
My thoughts, I'd say .02, but hell that's at lest 1.50 worth. LOL
Sorry for the novel guys, I enjoy the discourse on this subject, an it's rare to be able to without being yelled at an insulted as like other internet forums, or even in the real world. thanks for letting me share. I'll try not to be so wordy in the future.
